What does it take to be successful?

that's what i'm asking. what does it take to be successful? whatever your definition of "successful" is, what does it take to get there?

does it take an incredible academic career? do you need a unique talent? do you need to know the right people?

or, do you simply have to be in the right place at the right time?

i don't think that the smartest or most talented people always become the most successful, but that's just me.

Harrison Ford had a mediocre school life, got kicked out of college for not completing his thesis and was an all-around slacker. but, he moved to Hollywood, ended up doing carpentry work for a friend of George Lucas whom later casted him in a couple of well-known movies like "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" and is now one of the most bankable stars in cinema.

to me, i think all it takes to be successful is to follow your dreams (no matter how cliched that may sound) and have a little luck on your side.

what do YOU all think?

Date: 11/19/2003 6:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 62221    I think you are right. It feels like sometimes, no matter how hard you work, you don't get anywhere, but if you know the right people you get everywhere. I agree with you though. If you follow your dreams and are happy, you have succeeded. ~HUGS~ *Brown Eyed Angel*

Date: 11/19/2003 7:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 47296    There is something I wrote a while back that to me is the key to success. "You can be anything or anyone you want to be. All you have to do is want it bad enough. But to want it alone is not enough. You must never lose focus of what it is you aspire to, or your aspirations shall surely blow away."
