I recently have done a report on Alternative Healing/Medicine and I found parts of it so interesting I thought I should share some of this information with you all here at usm :0)
The first part is herbal treatment; this can be traced back as far as 5,000 years ago when the Greeks and Romans used this popular method. Well here are some interesting treatments:
For those suffering from colds/flu: Echinacea- increases levels of a chemical in the body called Properdin, which activates the part of the immune system responsible for increasing defense mechanisms against viruses and bacteria.
Garlic: nicknamed "the antibody" the aroma and compounds of the garlic go straight to the respitory tract and helps aid in breathing clearly.
Red Pepper: this is a pain and fever reliever; equivilant to aspirin; stimulates the release of endorphines (natural pain killers in the body) Also applied clove oil can help ease the pain of a toothache.
------
For Diabetes: garlic, beans, and onion. Beans: high in fiber and reduce the rise in blood sugar after meals and delays the drop in blood sugar later on. Onions (skin) is good for eye problems associated with diabetes. "Research shows there is a number of spices that help the body use insulin more efficiently: bay leaf, cinnamon, and cloves."
Asthma: caffeine, coco, green/black tea, coffee, and chocolate. All these help open constricted airways.
Reduce the symp. of allergies: garlic, ginkgo, vitamin c, and horseradish.
------
These are just a few of many herbals ingrediants that are easy to get and if taken the right way, can work wonders, hope you enjoyed this :0)
