Right across the street... Something's blooming there, And none too discreet Alas! Such an unhappy fellow But sometimes I wonder... If his woes aren't of his own design Another love, torn assunder And so young, the little one... Never to see them dance And the new girl, Taking such a chance I sit here, plucking At that splinter in their eyes, While keeping the log, my own So carefully disguised And all I keep saying is, So glad that's not you and I Such "friends" we are!
