My first hand experience of the Stock Market.................LPF

Yeah! My school among 13 other schools we're invited to participated in a Stock Market Challenge (where bassically it is a ssimulation of the real thing). Yes ... it is 'fake' but the ideas and concepts are very real.

It was a two day event

First day was kinda boring: 6 hours worth of lectures....with 2 breaks! We went to the Singapore Poly (it's like a UNiversity but in SIngapore), so after our boring lecturs, with a VERRRRRRRRY sarcastic lecturer we went and made out groups. IN our groups we had to come up with a theme, and make business cards, signs and be creative with costumes (for creative = more cash)

Day two was the actual stock market, at first we were given $1000 to 'play around' with... we were given extra money for creativity on our business! Then in each round we're given a newspaper (well...a newspaper designed FOR the simulation) and we had 8 minutes to analyzie it, decide what stocks we're gonna buy or sell and so one. AFter those 8 minutes a bell rings, where the chaos begins.

WE have 5 minuts to go to the purchasing desks and buy/sell what we want, I literally had to push myself through as limited time, and stocks we're being sold out. Since the area was huge, location of our desk (work area) is essential, my group decided to BE AT THE VERY BACK..as we were AWAY from everybody, as we didn't want them to hear what we were discussing...it was good, but it costs us...we sometimes ran into the problem of coming and wanting to buy, but finding out the stocks have been sold out. SO yeah...

In total my group made approximately 4000 dollars (yes..it's fake..paper money), other groups made more or less...the highest earned in total (out of 68 groups) was more than 16,000 dollars! Pretty good!...

I was happy that out of 13 schools and 6 awards my school wone 2 of those (HAHAHA)

Here's the website with some pictures of the actual event:

How it changed my life:

It hasn't changed my life, just opened up to me what Stock Market was like...TIme management, taking risks and data management is DEFINITLY key!
