I don't know if things operate differently in the US as they do in the UK, but my first port of call would be to the director of the company. Failing that, a letter which include lines of some sort of Consumer Programme like the UK's Watchdog, tend to get action out of people - they hate bad publicity. From a legal standpoint, I really cannot say, sorry. |

The BBB would be a good start, they will be able to direct you as to what to do. |

I assume the BBB is the US equivalent to the UK's CAB - Citizen's Advice Bureau? |

BBB, possibly, or better yet the local consumer fraud division. take the truck back to the dealer and tell them to either give back the money or produce a title or you are going to file a claim for fraud. If they didn't have clear title they had no right to sell it. And if they can't produce a title then you are entitled to your money back. The department of motor vehicles may want to get involved and even your local police dept. |

I would call the BBB and file a complaint. They will contact the dealership and let them know a complaint has been filed and why and give the dealership time to correct it. The dealership has to give your friend the title, even if it got lost in the mail, the dealership has to get another one and send it. Your friend shouldn't be paying anything else. The deal is done.
God Bless |

Well so far I have talked to the local police who know about this dealer and have had problems with them in the past, the police instucted me to do the same thing WildBob says, contact a lawyer and call the DMV. Upon calling the DMV, I learned that it is the dealers responsibility to furnish a clean title andif they cant then it is an invalid sale, she also told me to find out if the $100 was for them to do a title bond which is for a lost title, and since we never hadthe title to begin with, I dont see how we should have to pay for it, and then she told me to speak with the Magistrate Judge about it. Now it is 12:00 and I have 3 more hours to go before I can talk to the guy at the dealership. But ya know it would really be nice if there was One place you could call about problems with car dealers instead of being passed around like this! I will let you know what happens this afternoon. Thank You all for helping me with this!!!!!!! |

Here in Spokane there is a news station on TV (local news) that has a section titles "2 on your side" they have helped many people resolve problems with buisnesses. And you can imagine, buisnesses HATE bad publicity...do you have anything like that in your area?? And even if you don't, I'd call the local news anyway, they may want to run your story...just a thought... |
