My friend needs help....problems with a guy

OK, my friend has been dating this guy for about a year. And even when she first met him, he was immature and had REALLY horrible communication skills. He could not talk to her AT ALL, about ANYTHING. He got a little better with that over time, but lately they keep getting into the same fights over and over. He sits around all sad, mean, and moopey and won't tell her what's wrong. Then, he gets mad at her and gets really mean. What, cuz she can't read his mind?! He won't tell her what's wrong (if anything)and she doesn't know if she should just give up or wait for him to grow up. She tells him how worthless he makes her feel and how she feels like she can't do anything right with him and all he can say is: "sorry.......". I told her I wouldn't put up with that but she says she loves him and she knows he loves her. I have a guyfriend who's acting like her b-f and I'm getting sick of it too. ANY ADVICE??

Date: 11/22/2003 11:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 56200    Sounds like a couple I knew in high school oh! and actually I know of a couple now that are the same way. Your friend has to decide whether it's worth it for her to take this abuse. Obviously she has a very low self esteem, as the two couples that I knew. She probably thinks that she can't get anyone better and she just puts up with it. I'm figuring that your friend is very young, still in school. As we get older we tend to not put up with such things and get alittle more confident about ourselves. I'm just going on and on. I bet your tired of hearing about their fights and stuff as I am about the friend that I know now. I just try to get her to see that she deserves better but the final decision is hers. Hope this helps.

Date: 11/23/2003 5:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 61946    Sounds like he needs to grow up, but in the meantime, she needs to find someone that has the same mentality as she does. This type of relationship isn't good for either one of them.
