dec 24 2003 , my wife and i were trying to decide where to go out for breakfast that wasen't to crouded and not to much waiting in line to get in. we went to three different restraunts with the same results. almost to the point of giving up we tried one more time . we decided to try bob evens and expected to find the same big lines as we live in a town that turists come to in droves. to our supprise there were plenty of parking spaces and when we walked in there were no lines at all. the waitress seated us instantly and our server came right away to take our refresment order. as we were deciding what we wanted to order this elderly gentelman walkes up to our table and says merry christmas from charlie and hands my wife this little glass beaded christmas tree that he had made at home in his spare time it would seem and walked away. my wife looked at me and all she could say was why us ? why would he chose us of all people in the restraunt?. i was so startled by it all i said maby he noticed your smile. after the initial shock wore off i said to my wife im going to see if i can find him, he was dressed in all red and walked with a cane so if he was there i should e able to find him. he was accross the room in another part of the restraunt sitting all alone eating a very small breakfast so not to disturb him i asked the head waitress if he was a regular and asked if he usualy did things like this because never before has anyone done somthing like this for us. she said oh thats old charlie there, he never says anything and has never done anything like this as far as i know. but this little gesture of his with this little tree that he made was the most beautiful present that could have ever been given to us , it realy brought tears to my eyes and made the whole season a memory never to be forgoten. i sliped over to the casher and she also knew charlie and said he sometimes runs a little short for meals so he just has a little somthing to carry him through the day. i talked to my wife and we decided to do a little christmas for charlie. i went to the regester and told the mgr. that i want to pay for charlies breakfast so it came to 4.78 , i said no i meant for the comming year and only to say merry christmas charlie and not to say from who other than from christmas friends that care. we sat there as he went to pay for his breakfast and you would not believe the tears that flowed in that restraunt this morning and charlie kept asking who but all they said was a christmas angel came. lovinghugs , wooden nickel
