Woohoo!!!! Wait! Awe man *slaps forehead* This is not the kind of distinction one should chear about. It was announced today that the city I live in (Fulton NY) is the snowiest city in New York State this winter. We have gotten 6 feet of snow since last Friday and *looks out window* yep, it's still snowing.
This is crazy. I'm born and bred in central NY and have seen some of the biggest snow storms in US history but I can't ever recall mother nature picking on one particular town or city as she has done this year. Aparently a small band of lake effect snow is responsible for all this. It's funny too because I have had to miss work last Friday and now today and when I call my boss he says "Are you on drugs or something? It's sunshine here". Well, that is true. 5 miles down the road in another county, there is hardly a flake in the air but I'm telling you...we are buried in Fulton. The ciy is in a state of emergency. In fact, the whole county is. Roads are closed. People are stuck all over the place.
I tried to go to work this morning. Well, actually I was having hubby drive me cuz my nurves are shot driving in all this stuff and I almost had a head on collision last night cuz my car kinda of went into a major slide. *whew* We had good intentions of making it to work but after plowing my apartment complexes parking lot with the hood of my car and getting stuck a couple of times before even making it to the road...I highly suggested to hubby that he turn around and take me home pronto. Poor hubby. He's been outside cleaning snow off our cars and moving them so they can keep up with the plowing. He's threatening to move south and I think I shall miss him a great deal.
My son is loving this. Not only have they cancelled school several times this month but he has made a small fortune cleaning snow off cars and shoveling snow. As for me...well, I really don't like missing work. I missed last Friday and now today. It's not the money cuz I'm salary but I have SO much to do and being here isn't getting things done. But I guess that's the price I pay for living in the snowiest city in NY.
How it changed my life:I spent 3 years living in Hawaii and thought I missed snow. I'm an idiot.
