I want to lose about 8lbs really bad and have tried, but it just doesn't seem to come off. I work out quite often and have a good amount of muscle. The past few days I have ate very scarcely and have been hungry a lot, as an effort to lose it, though when I weighed myself today, it seemed like I might have GAINED a small amount. How do you all suggest me get the weight off? I exercise, I don't eat a lot of sweets, the only thing I really drink is water...so I seem to be doing everything right but it won't come off! Could I possibly be eating too little? The last few days Ive probably been eating under 1000 calories a day. Please voice your opinions; this is a very important goal of mine. Thank you all and God bless! -OzzyChic

Date: 1/29/2004 1:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 62376    I'm no doctor but I know Xenadrine works quick. Its ephedra free and it gives you energy. I just had a baby last spring, and I took them for a while with exercise and a diet and lost some weight. I wouldn't recommend it for long term, but for a quick fix, it couldn't hurt. Good luck!
Date: 1/29/2004 1:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 62506    OC, try cutting your carbohydrates, you know, bread, pastas, tatters, corn, and rice. If it taste good, spit it out. Carbs are sugar only wearing a disguise.lol.....woodshed
Date: 1/29/2004 1:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 15228    Everyone is different..not everyone's metabolism is the same so what works for one person might not work for another, the trick is finding the right formula for yourself. If you work out a lot at weight-lifting, maybe you need some kind of aerobic exercise to burn some calories. I think starving yourself does more harm than good, you'll eventually fall off the wagon and binge (if your're like me). Eating 3 meals a day is what works best for me. Also, eating breakfast is a proven way to jump start your metabolism.
Date: 1/29/2004 1:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    drink water water water water(like 2 gallons!)... your body goes into starvaton if you eat undr 1000 cals a day
Date: 1/29/2004 1:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 59418    Starving yourself in the long term isn't gonna help...if you starve yourself, once you start eating properly again you're likely to gain all the weight back again or maybe more than before...the best way to lose weight is to eat what you normally do, just in moderation...maybe eat a few less sweets/things which are high in fat. Don't cut things out of your diet completely because this will mean your diet is unbalanced. Also, eating less on it's own isn't going to help...you need to exercise quite a bit...maybe join gym or something?? *big hugs* Keep smiling
Date: 1/29/2004 1:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 55755    The carb diet works. I cut WAY back on carbs for the last 2 weeks, and i've lost 10 pounds. I don't know how wellthis diet would work if you dont eat a lot of carbs tho. Me, I practically live off of pasta and potatoes. LOL Also, watch your fat intake, and your calories. Of course, exercise is key. But cutting out the carbs REALLY helps. trust me
Date: 1/29/2004 1:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 62222    Cutting back on your carbs will work, but you can't starve yourself because your body won't process what you do put into your body properly. It'll hold on to everything because it thinks you won't put more into it. Cut out soda and drink twice as much water as you do anything else and you'll lose weight. But don't look for "quick schemes" that isn't good for your body.
Date: 1/29/2004 1:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 18527    go see a doctor or nutritionist
Date: 1/29/2004 1:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 49976    Do the low carb thing like everyone said it REALLY works! You can try this site for meal ideas or support: www.lowcarbfriends.com. Good Luck. :~D Hugs&Cookies.
Date: 1/29/2004 1:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 37449    Straving yourself, acutally makes you gain weight. Your body starts to store the fat because it doesnt get enough of it! Crunches might work for you.
Date: 1/29/2004 2:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 62408    First off... you need to know that muscle weighs MORE than fat. So while you may be shedding pounds, you may be 'bulking up' in terms of muscle. Another good way besides the scale in terms of seeing how you're coming along would be to use a cloth measuring tape, and measure yourself, to see if you're losing inches. Also, it sounds like you're eating too little. As I learned from a nutrionist I spoke with once, no diet should ever go below 1200 calories per day. Instead of eating larger meals, eat smaller ones, and more frequently. Your plate should be balanced so that half your plate is covered with vegetables, the other side is 1/4 of a protein, the other 1/4 a starch (potatoes or rice). Add skim milk or something to your diet for calcium. If you don't drink skim already, you can wean yourself down, or drink 2%. I know that skim is an aquired taste. Hope some of this helps, if I think of anything else, I'll let you know.
Date: 1/29/2004 2:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 15675    well my 1200 calorie diet works for me :). Eat between 1200 and 1600 calories a day then exercise off 400 of them, so far I've lost 40lbs of course it took awhile, i usually loose a pound a week.
Date: 1/29/2004 3:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 17275    Try counting fat grams keep it under 28 grams per day. You should lose 1 1/2 lbs + per week.
Date: 1/29/2004 10:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 53360    maybe you could try some slim fast?
Date: 1/29/2004 11:05:00 PM  From Authorid: 51587    well since you are workin out....you probably are gaining muscle, and remember muscle weights more then fat......so that might be why you cant seem to be losin weight...you probably are just gainin muscle also. but dont starve yourself...i did that one time...and wasnt very good. *huggs*
Date: 2/1/2004 12:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 6050    Throw away the darn scale! I agree with "muscle weighs more than fat"..the key to losing it..is losing the obsession of losing it. I know it's hard, but, find something to keep you busy, something that focuses you on something other than body image. It took me nearly 6yrs to get the scale to even budge..i stayed the same weight..i started a new job 4 months ago , lost some inches..i say inches..because it's not the pounds that matter..this job kept me busy, focused me on something else..i was a stay-at-home mom and i ate out of boredom and or thinking too much about not eating too much. by accidently forgetting about all that..that's when it all started to shed off..i still eat the same..as long as i'm walking around and moving,i mantain. Don't starve yourself.. go by appearance..just because the scale hasn't moved..doesn't mean you haven't slimmed down.
Date: 2/1/2004 6:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 21912    Yeah you're not eating enough calories, cause when u exercise you have to feed your muscles. The more you exercise the more calories you need because you are burn it all off...and of course good foods. And doing cardio really helps, i used to just work the muscles and that's it, so that didnt get me too far. And concentrate on keeping yourself happy at a weight. See i want to lose 5 lbs, but then id' be under weight. So try replacing the fat and turn it into muscle, just dont go overboard with it. It can make you very obssessive about it. I learnt to just accept myself, and i know that a lot of people say i look great the way i am, so that really helps
Date: 2/2/2004 9:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 62483    If you eat less calories than you burn, your body will automatically shed those pounds. Don't count on the scale so much! Sounds like you look at it daily! DONT! Your body weight has so many factor's and it's almost impossible to know by looking at a scale every day and besides, it takes a lot to put on a pound of fat, and it takes some time to get it off, normally not days-Also remember that MUSCLE WEIGHS MORE THAN FAT! if your working out, that would explain the few extra pounds.
Date: 2/7/2004 11:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 25483    I stay skinny because I only eat when I'm hungry, I never just snack. Everybody's metabolism is different though, but starving yourself is not the answer. I don't really know how to help you with this but I wish you the best of luck!
