A lot of people would draw a blank when it comes to sitting in front of a test, they OVER study. What I mean by over studying is that they study ALL the time, so when it comes to test time it's like your brain says "no way I'm not doing this" and goes on vacation for a few mins. You are not dumb, I did bad in school and had really low marks. Maybe what you should try to do is NOT try so hard. Seems like you are trying to hard to succeed and you are putting TONS of pressure on yourself which causes you to draw blanks when it comes to test time. This is coming from a person who gets a 92% on an exam and I DON'T study. I'm one of those people who seem to retain the important information and forget the non important stuff, so when it comes to test I just do my best and I don't stress over them. I've seen many people literally freak out come test day cause they don't feel that they are ready for it. Or they have in their minds "I'm going to fail" Me I have the attitude hey if I get over 70% (my passing mark per class) I'm happy. So try that now and see if your next report card changes. It's just a suggestion, don't have to listen to me if you don't wanna =) |

First of all...take a deep breath. Try and relax a little bit. If you feel you know the information, perhaps Wyndrune is correct you may have overstudied. Quite a lot of people suffer from testing anxiety. Believe me, I'm a teacher, I see it all the time. I saw it as a student, and now as a teacher. The only thing I can tell you, just tell yourself, this test isn't the end of the world. High school and college isn't for everybody. But if you are trying and that is where you feel you are supposed to be, keep fighting to stay there. Some people have an easier time than others when it comes to these things. Just keep trying eventually you'll get it. And as far as your friend, your wondering why? Welcome to real life. People do not stop behaving like that when you graduate. You will always find somone who is two-faced and likes to stir the pot. So my suggestion, simply disassociate with that person. Easiest and simplest way to handle it without going down to their level. |

In my moment of laziness here all I can say is...ditto to what the others said. Some excel in some subjects more than the other. I don't know if you took SATs yet but hey I got a 290 (not exactly great) but I got a 700 something in English. |

I know where you're coming from..I am usually a student who scores in the 90's but the last few tests at nursing school I have scored a 75..now, that is passing and I shouldn't stress it as others failed and miserably so I have no right to be crabbing..but I can't understand what the difference is EXCEPT..maybe I am just studying TOO hard (like someone else here suggested you may be doing). I am personally going back to just reading the chapters and leaving it at that..no notecards, no making extra notes, no cramming the night before..it worked before..it should still work. But, don't ever think that you are dumb, nobody is dumb..nor is anyone perfect. We all have areas that are tough for us..maybe math is just yours and you need to find the method that works for you. DON'T give up..you can do it, I have faith in you!! |

i was the same way with history. no matter how hard i studied, i always got a bad grade. some people just have a hard time grasping certain subjects. i know that was the case with me. i still have a hard time understanding it, and i am 29 years old. just don't give up. you will get through it. i failed history every year in high school and almost didn't graduate because of it. i graduated in august. i thought about dropping out as well. now i am very happy that i didn't give up. just don't give up either. you will make it. |
