I go into second hand stores every now and then. I never buy any of their clothes there. I usually look at the toys, electronics, kitchen stuff, office supplies, books, furnature and whatever else they have. I bought a 8 dollar rice cooker at Goodwill a while back and it works as if it were new. Gotta love cheap stuff :) |

Most of my house is furnished with second hand stuff. It's either from places like those or friends or yard sales. That way if i move I don't feel bad about not paying to move what cost little or nothing. I moved once and rented a truck that cost $1,000. When I moved the mext time I couldn't afford a truck so I had to practically give away good, like new, furniture and move in my vehicle. the only thing I am fussy about being new is my mattress and box springs, unless I know the people who I am getting used from and their cleaning habits. |

*Raises Hand with pride* I just went yesterday to two diff salvation army's :D I buy all new clothes for the kids at the start of the new school year but with their growth spurts, holy cow! Through out the year I replenish their supply from 2nd hand stores. I tell ya, you can find some really nice things in places like that...why pay $$$ when you can get the same for much cheaper...providing its in good condition. |

I LOVE the Salvation Army. I furnished our new living room completely for $250 dollars...that's a couch, mother-love seat, chair, two end tables, a coffe table and delivery!!! I also love the Everything's A Dollar Store and the Dollar Tree in the town near us! I couldn't believe they sold so many wonderful/beautiful items for a dollar a piece...I'm a candle and figurine nut now more than ever. I have bought a few decorative plates to display a tower of candles on in both my living room and bedroom. I surround the candles with these neat plastic bobbles that they sale in small bags of many different colors. And my kiddos love the dollar store because they have a wide range of plastic swords :) It makes me feel good to shop in the Salvation Army though, because I know my money is going to help someone else who really needs it, like we did just a few years ago when they furnished our dining room for free! |

I used to shop at second hand stores, but in the past couple of years I have noticed that, especially when it comes to clothes, I can get brand new clothes for the same price or cheaper off the clearence racks! So, I have since said "so long" to thrift store shopping. It just doesn't make sense to buy an old, faded and used baby outfit for $3.50! I miss the good old days back before thrift store shopping got so popular. When you could buy a blouse or a dress for 25 cents! |
