I think the main reason the youth doesn't vote is because the people being voted for aren't offering anything for them. Manily they go with the older people to try and win their vote. |

See what the youth is not seeing is the policies they make today affect us tomorrow |

Hi, Pin I have voted in every election since I turned 18 back in 1975. I have not missed one not even when my Stepfather passed away two days before election.Voting is not only a right it is a responsbility. I have also been involved in campaigns since I was 12 |

i am voting... don't know how i don't care for dubya or kerry... and the reason they bother so much with old people is because instead of just complaining they go out and actually write tons of letters and do other stuff to get more attention... we on the other hand just verbally complain and don't do anything... |

My brother won't vote. He just turned 18, and frankly, I'm glad! :P (I don't trust his opinion) I think they should test for alcohol level and for drugs before they let people vote. Or do they? |

Eh? No they don't sparky though I'm sure if someone went in reeking of drugs/alcohol they would do something about it then. I've voted every time since I turned 18.....in our last election we got new push button screens....so I was excited to go do that...*push....push...push* LOL |

As soon as I turn eighteen I'm voting! I understand what Nimiwae is saying but.... we need to have our voices heard. We can't complain about who's president if we had no say in deciding it and we had the opportunity to; as my mom always says "pick the lesser of two evils" ...*sigh* On a somewhat related note, as anyone heard about t-shirts at Urban Outfitters (I believe it's that store) that say "Voting Is For Old People" ...personally, that just infuriates me. That is sending the completely wrong message to a youth already bogged down by commercial apathy. Anyway, great post. :) Thank you for bringing this to light again. |

Most youth don't know what they're doing. Dick Cheney? What's that?! |

No offense, but to those youth with the power to vote and do vote...and that don't know that Mexico isn't a state of the U.S., but a country...worry me.... |

I posted earlier about the fact that more people between the ages of 18-25 will vote for American idol than will vote in the national election. I guess it's all about where your head is. |

I whole heartedly concur with you... I spent a great deal of time a couple of years before the "72" elections joining marches and writing letters and any other thing that would get our legislators attention and ecourgage them to ratify the 26th Amendment .. In 1971 that happened and I was able to vote in the upcoming "72" presidental election. I turned 18 in that year and I have never missed an election since... I honestly think the local elections are much more important and will effect change not only close to home but that change will filter up to the highest offices... So please go vote ! ... ~Jay~ |
