Yeah, that pittiful remake of Romero's 1978 classic "Dawn of the Dead." Where is the social-political commentary? Why were the characters turned into the uber-generic modern horror stereotypes? Why are the zombies RUNNING?!? My apologies to those who disagree, but there is no way ANYONE could survive hordes of fast, strong, JUMPING zombies. No, to quote Romero's legendary film that CREATED the modern cenimatic zombie, "Night of the Living Dead," "Are they slow-moving chief?" "Yeah, they're dead, they're all messed up." |

I have to agree with Leo fire. And the movie probably would of been a litle boring if the zombis moved real slow. |

Have you ever seen Romero's version? It wasn't just a Horror flick, it was a social commentary on the culture of the time. All three of his zombie movies delve deeply into the times in which they were made, while still telling an incredible story. This is why films these days are so trite and ridiculous: people today don't want to think when they go to a movie. Nowadays everything in horror is crash boom bang with no substance. There is no deeper meaning, no social, political, or religious commentary, no point. The only thing they try to do with modern horror films is fill the screen with enough flashy images and gore that people don't have to think about such mundane things as PLOTS. |

I'm what you would call a horror movie junky but I didn't know the Night of the Living Dead and the Dawn of the Dead were social commentaries. I should watch them again. I like how in the original DD the dead people in the mall all had huge bell bottoms on. What I'm sick of in horror movies is the classic college student going somewhere to party then come across some horror. That theme is dead and they're still dragging it through the mud. Can't people think of something new? Another thing that bothers me is when they try to remake classics. They redid Psycho and The Shinning a few years back. I mean, why mess with perfection? |
