I've been having some problems lately with coordiantion. i have fallen, tripped and stumbled. hit my head, knocked numerous things over. basically i'm starting to look like the biggest clutz in the world. i'm also forgetting things. things i should not forget, like things i do every day. all of this has been going on for about a month and seems to be getting worse. finally after i hit my head so hard i about passed out, i decided to go to the doctor to see if they could help. She told me that she thinks i'm a worrier and that i have anxiety problems. and she suspects that is whats causing my extreme clumsiness and forgetfulness. so she prescribed me paxil. she also ordered a cat scan, but i haven't heard back from that yet. I haven't really taken the paxil yet and its been almost a week since she prescribed it. i'm not sure i think she's right. what should i do? I don't really want to take a pill every day, and there are some side affects that are likely to occur that i really do not want. Yes i am a worrier and somedays i do feel overly stressed. but i don't know that its to the extreme of needing medication. have any of you taken paxil? have you had the symptoms i have? I almost feel like i just need some kind of pill that i take just when i feel extra stressed, but not all the time. but i still don't see how anxiety could cause the problems i am having. any help anyone could give would be great.

Date: 3/21/2004 8:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 36704    yeah I have and it's usually caused by my ears, usually an inner ear infection
Date: 3/21/2004 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 13841    Press her for the cat scan reports!!! falling over is NOT normal, unless you're an alcoholic. If she doesn't get back to you soon, get a second opinion!!!!! Are you a meek person? I'm just asking because when it comes to your health sometimes you have to be assertive, in their face, or they think you're a worrywort with nothing better to do. GOOD LUCK!!! you'd better let me know what happens with this, or ill keep worrying about u!!!!
Date: 3/22/2004 2:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 62104    anxiety could easily cause those problems- take it from me, I suffer from the same thing- lol. You're right for not wanting to take a pill without examining all the other options (especially if it can cause some nasty side effects) I'm sure there's nothing wrong with your brain. Sometimes people just go through these awkward stages in their life and maybe you're going through yours. Just take your time and take a deep breath every now and then. Also make sure you're getting enough sleep and don't miss your breakfast. I know that sounds silly, like something your mom would say, but it's the truth! It's hard to focus on an empty stomach.
Date: 3/22/2004 4:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 60052    It depends on what's going on in your life. If you are overly stressed, not sleeping well and such, yes that could cause the problem and Paxil may help you through this rough time. If you are convinced that this is not the problem go get a second opinion. :)
Date: 3/22/2004 7:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 62588    I've taken Paxil and it didnt really help. As with most anit-depressants, Paxil messes with your memory. (It turned me stupid) Also, I had a side-effect that it didn't list on the forms the pharmicist gave me - it blurred my vision (like when you wake up with sleep in your eyes?) Loss of memory could be from stress, and clumsiness could too.. As far as taking the medicine, I guess you have to decide if feeling like you are now is worse then the side effects or not.
