When you applied to College/University how many did you apply to?......LPF

Yeah..

bassically the discussion/question is in the subject title itself

When YOU started applying to go to college or University how many did you apply to? being a local or internation student.

Now i know a few of my friends have applied to over 12 universities Which to me sounds crazy, considering i know they'll definitely get into at least 6 of them because their grades are really high.

Now i'm applying to 5 of them, so crossing my fingers that i'll be accepted.

I mean first of all it costs an AVERAGE of $50 per application form to be processed...

so what is a sure number?.. of uni's to apply to to be certain to get an acceptance for the time i want to start school?

Thanks for the help! :)

Date: 3/22/2004 5:12:00 AM  From Authorid: 60052    I applied to 4 in the interest of saving money. (BTW, I was accepted to all 4 and then had to choose, lol)
Date: 3/22/2004 6:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Just one, I was using the G.I. bill and had the grades and SAT scores so they had to accept me.
Date: 3/22/2004 7:03:00 AM  From Authorid: 21266    just two :)
Date: 3/22/2004 7:19:00 AM  From Authorid: 36538    Since it did cost a little bit of money for each application sent in, I only applied to two. The college I go to now and the University of Tennessee.
Date: 3/22/2004 7:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 58809    I applied to only 4. I knew I had good grades, so why overdo it? I got accepted into 3, including the college of my choice. YaY! I start this fall...
Date: 3/22/2004 7:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 58809    Oh yeah..I'm still waiting to hear from #4. Go ahead man! Take yer time...
Date: 3/22/2004 8:00:00 AM  From Authorid: 1065    I applied to 5 because I have a class named college prep and it was MANDATORY that we apply to at least five or else we would get a 0 on a test grade. Anyway, Im still waiting for acceptance or rejection letter which will be sent out at the end of this week, but i really hope that I will be fortunate enough to get into some of them. Good Luck with the process, ok! :D
Date: 3/22/2004 8:26:00 AM  From Authorid: 62585    to be honest i only applied for one, and i got accepted. i guess i was lucky
Date: 3/22/2004 9:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    The first time around? Two....I knew one would atleast accept me figured the other would as well...and I was right. Later on I applied to an out of state university was accepted...and then later on I applied to a community college...Hmm yeah needless to say I've bounced around...I'm back at my original college now...it sucks :p
Date: 3/22/2004 9:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 16845    What's a GI bill Bcar???
Date: 3/22/2004 9:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 9130    I just applied to one and got in.
Date: 3/22/2004 10:14:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Hey Becky, the GI bill was the college tuition program they used to have in place for honorably discharged military veterans. They phased it out in the late 70's early 80's. But what it basically came down to was that after completion of military service and honorable discharge the US Government would pay 100% of tuition and books for a bachelors degree. Also if you met the standards no school could refuse you since your tuition was guaranteed. In my case 5 years in the Marine Corps = a free Engineering degree.
Date: 3/22/2004 11:05:00 AM  From Authorid: 47218    12 is excessive. I wouldn't recommend more than 5-6 for undergrad. Personally, I applied to 3. It costs a lot of time and money to apply, plus, if you keep the number down you can put more effort into the applications. Rule of thumb-- 2 long shots, 2 competetive, and 2 colleges that you are sure of getting into.
Date: 3/22/2004 1:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    Just 2, didn't get into one, accepted into another. My family was pretty ticked about the one I didn't get into, like my WHOLE family went there. My Grandmother was the President of her sorority back her day, my mom went there a little bit, my aunt went there for school and grad school and met my uncle there and got married in the church there. They were ticked to say the least. I actually like this school more anyways, pssst I sorta didn't want to go to that stuffy old school anyways
Date: 3/22/2004 3:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 60018    I only applied for one :-D I thought that I had applied for more but it turned out that I didn't actually send in my application :-/ Oh well, I got in so it worked out.
Date: 3/22/2004 3:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 19613    Ah, the joys of living in a tuny country. All applicaitons to colleges in Ireland go through the central applications office (CAO). You give them your top three choices (what college and what course) makes it so much easier.
Date: 3/22/2004 4:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 27583    after i gridguated from the school of hard knocks i aplyed to the universarity of whats a matta you.
Date: 5/31/2005 2:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 7574    I applied to 3 and got into all, but I have to go to the one I don't like because of financial reasons.
