Three men go into a cafe, and buy three meals. Their water comes over and charges them 30 dollars, and each pay 10. The manager sees, and says it is too much, and to refund 5 dollars. The waiter thinks, 'hmmm, I can make some money from this', and pockets 2 dollars, giving the men bck a dollar each.

This is the hard part... The men each paid 9 dollars, 9 times 3 is 27. The waiter kept 2 dollars, making a total of 29. Where did the other dollar go?

Date: 3/23/2004 11:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 36967    Alright, the way this is worded, it is impossible. 30 dollars together 3 men paid, so each man paid 10 dollars. Since he over charges by 5 dollars, He gives back 3 dollars back and keeps 2 dollars. 2 of the men would pay 9 dollars and 33 cents, and the third guy paid 9 dollars and 34 cents. That equals 28 dollars, and then gets to keep 2 dollars. $9.33+$9.33+$9.34+$2.00=$30.00

Date: 3/23/2004 11:55:00 AM  From Authorid: 58611    ok so the total was 30, subtract the 5 the manager gave back and that leaves 25. So the waiter gives them back a dollar each, making it 9 dollars they all paid, which would equal 27, 27-25=2. And the other dollar was given back to one of the three men. I dont know, but somehow it works out right.
Date: 3/23/2004 11:59:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62060    like i said, one way it works, the other way it just doesnt...
Date: 3/23/2004 12:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 36967    that's not totally right. Here it goes. three guys paid a total of 30 dollars for a meal. The waiter over charges then by $5.00. So that means the meal only cost $25.00. So two guys who pay $8.33 cents, and the third paid $8.34. That is how they paid (Unless they can figure out how the three of then each 8.33+(1/3), which would be unlikely). So It one guy $8.33 and $8.33 and the other $8.34. that equals 25.00. But the waitor keeps 2 dollars and gives back the rest 3 dollars, so 1 dollar to each, so that would have $9.33 and $9.33 and $9.34. That equals 28 dollars, so the Waitor gets to keep 2 dollars.

Date: 3/23/2004 12:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62060    They pay 30 dollars first and only believe they get a dollar back each, so, 10-1=9, as is my understanding...
Date: 3/29/2004 9:01:00 AM  From Authorid: 40741    its inpossible to tell.........isnt it?
