Professional movie critics critique movies very differently from the average movie-goer, solely because they're professional and have a whole different criteria. Their opinions are valid but opinions can differ. Like, for instance, 'Lost in Translation' with Bill Murray got rave reviews from the critics and I thought it was horrible. Same with 'About Schmidt' with Jack Nicholson. It's all a matter of opinion and opinions often differ. Just because you're professional doesn't mean you sit on a high throne and tell everyone what to think. - |

critics dont tell people what to think....the public allows them to make up their mind for them. the public has to learn to stop listening to other people and make up their own minds |

DEEP END OF THE OCEAN is another one I forgot. Don't you hate when you can't think at the moment you want to but remember everything you wanted to say after the moment?? ggrrrrr |

I just like to write reviews, because I wanted to find a way to combine my two favorite loves - writing and movies. My opinion sits as evenly as every one elses'; I just write mine out. (By the way: I liked the Butterfly Effect, Serendidpity is one of my favorite romantic comedy-dramas EVER, and, well, you just can't say enough good things about Finding Nemo.) |

movie critics have to know something they are getting paid decent bux to go sit watch a movie and do a report on it, they tend not to give teen movies rave reviews-- it's all about movie tastes, for example i honestly didnt enjoy finding nemo as much as many others have(dori sorta annoyed the heck outta me!!) i found a walk to remember very sweet and serendipity sweet and predictable these movies didnt have a ton of depth to them they were popcorn movies compared to something that is a work of art or a thinking movie or a dark comedy where the jokes are more then just surface humor |

I agree with you about the critics. I've gone to movies they raved about, and I couldn't wait to leave the theater. "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" in the '80's is an example. I didn't walk out, but I almost did several times. Three hours I will never get back! "Beyond Borders" was another one that left me feeling empty. I could have cared less about any of the characters. I've seen some movies in recent years that I really liked, only to find out that critics hated them! |

Oh, yeah, I don't usually like romantic comedies, but I did like "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral." |
