Our puppy twitches and whines all of the time when she sleeps. I think animals dream. |

I'm POSITIVE that all animals, at least mammals, dream. All animals twitch and make funny movements and sounds when they sleep... including my cat Lily :) |

My dog Cassie is a very silent dog. She never barks unless something is really wrong, so it's alarming when she's asleep on the floor and she starts barking! Her legs will start moving like she's running, and she'll look really anxious and she'll be barking like crazy. So yes, I think animals do dream. >>Bageera<< |

I know they dream. When my cat sleeps, she will move her feet around and when my dog sleeps, he runs and barks with his mouth closed. It's so funny to watch. :) |

they would have to. I have watched out cat fight, pounce even sleep so heavyly that you could pick her up and she is like a dishrag in my hands. If she wasnt breathing I would assume she was dead. So yes animals do dream. |

I think that pets dream. Our dog Honey used to dream quite actively, and even let out little woofs (she was a boxer mix), and her feet would move like she was running, her eyebrows would twitch, her lips move up, a couple times she even howled in her sleep. While we were trying not to howl with laughter. She usually ended up sleeping in an unusual upside down position on her chair, with the smallest portion of her tongue sticking out (an unusual contrast to her dark black muzzle) it was the most comical effect. Our older dog Mindy, from my childhood days, dreamt as well, and so do Sandie, our golden lab mix and Jewel our newest black lab puppy we got last summer shortly after Honey passed away. While I must say Sandie is the more active dreamer of the two in feet movement, Jewel possesses a lot of Honey's traits...and a few times we've caught her with her tongue out, LOL! Our guess is that they're dreaming about their favorite pastime: chasing squirrels! |

my dogs and cat definately dream. The dogs will growl sometimes which scares me-but then I look over and they are sleeping. My cat snores too...IsisKat |

I am sure they do dream, I am also sure that mice feature strongly in the dreams of my cats in the same way that my dogs are always chasing rabbits in their sleep! LOL! |
