I Just Imagine The Teen Years.......

I spent the earlier evening at my cousin's house and she was putting my 7 year old's hair up in different styles of ponytails.

I was explaining to my daughter that she couldn't allow her friends to play with her hair if I did her hair like that in the morning. When I pick her up from school, the plain old pony tail in the back of her head is half falling down and the band is always at the base of her neck.

My kid has great hair. It's silky, shiny, nice color blonde and apparently all of her friend's have a problem keeping their hands out of it...LOL.

Well she pipes up with, "But mommy, Joshua loves to play with my hair." She then proceeds to explain that he is always playing with it in Art class and during movie time. Upon further inquiry during movie time he takes her ponytail out so he can run his fingers through her hair. *blinks*

This discussion is coming after a discussion she had with my mother shortly before her birthday last month. She told my mother that if she was going to buy her clothes for her birthday to make sure that they were the popular clothes. Her explanation for that was that she and her friends are the popular ones and they have all the popular clothes, hair and stuff.

If this is 7, what in the world are the teenage years going to bring?

Date: 4/3/2004 8:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    My kids are ages 7 and 3, and I'm already dreading those teenage years! My oldest is a boy, so he really doesn't care much about his looks yet. But those days are coming. Quickly! Too quick..

Date: 4/3/2004 9:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    Jen, It is normal, I think. Christina is the same. She is always fixing her hair, wanting to buy new clothes, and WEAR makeup! She isn't even seven. She idolizes Britney (need I say more) and Mary Kate and Ashley, as well as Hillary Duff. Too much Nick Jr. But I know your point, I "blink" and just wonder what's next.
Date: 4/3/2004 10:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 26452    Wow, lol maybe I'm just over protective(I don't even have a kid yet lol) but I would not be a happy mommy if some boy was running his grubby little fingers through my little girls hair lol. I'd really hate to think what future generations are gonna be like if this is how 7 year olds now are, before ya know it preschoolers are gonna be wearing mini skirts and wearing make-up.
Date: 4/3/2004 11:00:00 PM  From Authorid: 57232    I can just imagine what my kids will be up too! But that will happen years from now when I actually have some
