Good morning USMER's and happy day light savings..Hope everyone turned their clocks forward.... I know i am really missing that hour of sleep... i could have used it .

Anyways.... like the title says... my daughter is having surgery this Wednesday and i am looking for a little info..... She is having her adnoids out and tubes put in her ears..I have gotten info on the ear tubes but nothing yet on the adnoid procedure.... i was wondering if anyone out there has been through this or had their child through this . I DO NOT WANT TO HEAR ANY HORROR STORIES AT THIS TIME PLEASE... I AM NERVOUS ENOUGH WITHOUT HEARING ABOUT THOSE.... I am wondering about pain factor in recovery... how long healing time is and how long the procedure takes.... I call the doctor for this info and times on Monday... but for now i have to get through today without knowing... thank goodness i am working to keep my mind busy.

Also come wednesday, please keep her in your thoughts... thanx.

Date: 4/4/2004 6:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 62600    I agree with author 62506, my little brother had his adnoids taken out, and tubes put in his ears, and as I recall the only real discomfort was the IV and the hospital stay.

Date: 4/4/2004 11:42:00 AM  From Authorid: 62618    I work for a group of ENT doctors that do these surgeries daily. The tubes are a breeze-you will be so glad your little girl is not sick any more. The adenoids are pretty much useless, and they do contribute to chronic ear infections and sinus infections. She will be pretty much fully recovered in just a few days. These are routine surgeries and will do so much to keep her from being sick all the time. You will be glad you did it. It's OK to worry, I'd be concerned if you weren't. But trust your doctor, and call his office tomorrow with a list of questions you want answered. Be brave and have faith. You will be glad you did. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you.

Date: 4/4/2004 3:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    it's a mothers job to worry. believe me, i know. it doesn't matter how minor the surgery is, a mother still worries. my neice had this done a few years back. it isn't too bad at all. i will keep her and you in my thoughts and prayers and pray for a speedy recovery.
Date: 4/4/2004 4:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 62588    I had my adnoids out when I was five.. I had tupes in, and adnoids and tonsels out.. the only pain I can remember is from eating doritos (my mean brother and sister made me!).. also, my niece is 4 and she just had the same procedure.. she didnt have a lot of pain either. its been about three weeks now but the pain was gone in 2 days!
Date: 4/4/2004 6:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 33517    I am sure everything will go fine...I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers..But, I think as a mom...You will need the prayers more than her...:)..**Big Canadian Hugs**
Date: 4/4/2004 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 16671    You know you have my prayers.
Date: 4/4/2004 10:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    I'm sure your daughter will be just fine, SK8R. About all I can remember about adnoids is plenty of ice cream. My son had his removed at twenty-one and had a pretty rough time with it. I heard it was way harder for adults than children. I'll say a prayer for your little girl..See ya...
Date: 4/5/2004 12:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 20956    awww, poor thing! i know nothing about either things (though my mum did have hers done when she was younger) so i'll wish her all the luck with the operation and a very speedy recovery :)
Date: 4/5/2004 11:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    your little one will be in my thoughts and prayers hun...I'm sure all will go well for her....hugs
