APRIL 5 2004 (TEN YEARS SINCE KURT DIED)-----KURTVEDDER

In Australia it is currently April 5th which is also the day that Kurt Cobain died. In his death he left a daughter by the name of Francis Bean who is the splitting image of himself, a moron of a wife in Courtney Love, millions of fans, and a musically legacy in which he helped spring the world away from hairbands that invaded us during the 1980's. He will never be forgotten and I believe he will be remembered just as Jim Morrison was remembered, a tortured soul who had immense talent. A man who could do more with four bar chords than many can do with 15. A man who simply reflected what alot of people were feeling (albiet failry crypticaly which was the way he loved his art). So get out you favourite Nirvana album and play a tribute. I know that The best of album will be cranked in my house. How about yours?

Date: 4/4/2004 3:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 28989    I pulled out my Nevermind a little while ago, and it brought back a lot of memories--the days when rock'n'roll still had a soul. Kurt really could do a lot with so little. Thanks for the post.
Date: 4/4/2004 3:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 16442    Yep, he died on my 25 birthday.

Date: 4/4/2004 3:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 3835    *shocked* It has been that many years? I recall when it was announced too, and I did not realize that much time has elaspsed.. it does not seem that long ago to me. I was very sad to hear of his death. Nirvana was really hitting the charts well then, too. Yes, I agree, Kurt was very intellegent, and very musically talented. His death was the loss of a very prominent spokesperson for the thoughts of our youth. I also agree that his legacy will live as long as Morrison.

Date: 4/4/2004 4:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 51285    wow...ten years...I was pretty young when he died. I know more about him now because of a friend of mine and my own Kurt wonderings, which I've answered. May he rest in peace, more so than he could in this world. -=+GG+=-
Date: 4/4/2004 4:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 53909    Wow. I can't believe it's been 10 years now. My cousin had went to school with Kurt. He will never be forgetten.
Date: 4/4/2004 5:06:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 45630    I remember when I found out he was dead. I was trying on a wetsuit at a surf store when I came out and dead said "do you know a guy called Kurt Cobain". I said "yeah he is the lead singer of my fave band", dad then went on to say that he had committed suicide. I didn't believe him and told him he was a couple of days late for an April fools day joke. I say it on the news when I was walking past a electrical store though. Man that ruined my holiday.
Date: 4/4/2004 5:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    Smells like Teen Spirit....just love it....my goodness those ten years have flown by, and such a waste of talent....hugs
Date: 4/4/2004 9:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 6867    It does not seem like 10 years at all. I was listening to the unplugged cd earlier...but it had not hit me that we were coming up on the anniversary of his death. well, i will be celebrating the musical genius...not mourning the fact he is not here:) Love Yourself,
Date: 4/4/2004 9:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 62618    Every once in a while, someone comes along at just the right time in history and completely overtakes the youth of the world with music. Why? Who knows. Maybe they are put here to help the kids of their era cope with the universal teenage problems: parents, friends, society etc. All I know is, bad things happen to them eventually. Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, SRV, Michael Jackson, Elvis, and John Lennon just to name a few. I firmly believe that this cycle of hope and desolation is controlled by someone or something. Kurt is just another casualty in this war, and whether he killed himself or was murdered the outcome is the same. His death and the death and destruction of so many others breaks my heart. Blessed are the musicians. Peace.

Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

Out of the blue and into the black
You pay for this, but they give you that
And once you're gone, you can't come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
Is this the story of johnny rotten?
It's better to burn out 'cause rust never sleeps
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Date: 6/1/2008 4:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 63026    I wonder how he'd look at todays music scene. It's always sad to see young musicians die by their own hands, or drugs and booze.
