=IF(C1>40,((C1-40)*a)+(C1*b),C1*b) Where C1 is the total number of weekly hours. a is the numerical payrate for double time (not including your regular time), e.g. if you make $10/hr, and overtime is double time, then a=10 (because you'd make 20 bucks an hour). b= your regular rate, or 10. The formula reads IF the number of hours is greater than 40, subtract the total number of hours from 40 and multiply the difference times your OT rate and add it to your regular rate; otherwise just multiply times your regular rate. So with this logic, if you worked 50 hours, your pay rate is $600. I think this is right, there's probably a way to simplify it, but I'm tired right now.  |
