"Now, to visitors and newcomers, our town of Teardell sounds dreary, sad, or depressing. For them, tears are sad, but for us they bring happiness and abundance. Can anyone tell me why?" Lady Nightengale asked her class.
A small one raised her hand. Lady Nightengale nodded signaling that the child may answer.
"Because of Minna-minnafiorin-n-n?" she asked.
"Well, that's close. It's Minafiornin," Lady Nightengale corrected her. "Now, can anyone tell me the story that involves Minafiornin and Teardell?"
No one raised their hand.
"Surely you've heard this story over a hundred times! This is something you should all know!" She patted down her ruffled feathers.
An obnoxious stuffy-nosed child raised his hand. Lady Nightengale nodded. "We all know the story, we just don't feel like telling it," he admitted.
The Lady looked a little flustered. "If none of you will tell it, I will." She began, "A long time ago, in this very town, which was just considered Niorwin Kingdom- as most towns in the kingdom didn't have a name yet- a horrible drought came about. It stayed for a long time and many beings in the town died. Citizens would often call for help from other towns, but no one could afford to donate water, for they had all come about minor droughts themselves. At this time, the white dragon, Minafiornin, was considered the Queen of Dragonkind, for she was beautiful, the most powerful (that we know of), and had the kindest heart. One day, she was passing through Niorwin Kingdom, and she came to our town, Our citizens explained to her the drought and ask her for help. She didn't know how to help, and became so distraught that she began to cry for the poor town. Her tears formed a lake (this was possible because she was of the Mano breed of dragons which made her extremely large). The citizens ran to the lake as quickly as their health would allow. These tears, because they were of a Mano Dragon, had special hydrating powers, and just a cup of water from our lake could hydrate someone for weeks. No one ever tries this, of course, because the water is so good, that it's hard to drink just one cup.
A girl by the name of Kayonielliae, stood up. "I know this town has good water, but the rest of this story is just a wagon full of drat!" she said.
Lady Nightengale became angry. "Watch your language!"
"All this stuff about 'Mano' dragons is just maggots!"
"I said 'Watch your language'! Now do you want to have a visit with Sir Eagle?" exclaimed Lady Nightengale.
"No, but has anyone here ever seen a dragon over 6 inches tall?" Kayonielliae tried to get the class involved.
"That's it. Got to Sir Eagle. Let him deal with your nonsense." cried Lady Nightengale.
