I'd love to do it that day but unfortunately thats the day of my doctors appt. and we don't have gas! My dad was even going to make me cancel my appt b/c we don't have the money to pay for gas, its gotten that ridiculous. We have to drive atleast 12 to 15 miles to town because we live out in the country and it's just become to much to pay. |

wow.. i sure hope that this gets around. i know that it's impossible to get everyone to do this, to start with.. but also, they are going to get their money back either the day before or after... everyone needs gas. what about that? it's something to think about. |

As I said on a similar post the other day "This is just unrealistic. To actually have an effective gasoline boycott you would have to involve people from around the world for more then just one day or even a weekend, since OPEC doesn't just sell to people in the US." |

Wow another one of these! Even in Canada there are these boycott emails going around. There's one asking all Canadians to stop buying from the two top Gasoline companies and to just buy from the less popular ones. I don't really see how it will affect anything though... |

as much as I support this, it is a very unrealistic goal. people nowadays can't go a day without a car. and some people really need the gas to get to the places that they have to go to. my friend drives a good 30 miles to get to school. so i know it would be impossible for her to not buy gas. |

As much as I would love for this to happen and to work it's just unrealistic ...My hubby drives over 50 miles one way to work and the gas prices are killing us big time...People will just buy the gas needed the day before or the day after so really it won't help anything anyhow ... |

I don't think that not buying gas for one day would have much effect on the oil companies. However, I do believe that if we boycotted one or two "major" oil companies, it will throw them into a "competition frenzy", causing them to lower their prices which will start a chain reaction across the board. This happened about 5 years ago when gasoline dipped to about 75 cents a gallon in Texas. The hard thing (nearly impossible) is to get everyone to agree to do this. The alternative is to buy as little gas as possible, and try to conserve. If we can cut our consumption by 25%, then we cut their profits by much more than 25% because their "overhead" is relatively unchanged, thus this loss will come directly from their profits. About one month should be enough to get it under control. Also, if we cause "stockpiles" here, it will drastically reduce our purchases of foreign oil..... |

Too Many Caps. People will just have to buy gas before or after the boycott date. It won't affect anything. |

That would be GREAT if that could really happen! But unfortanutly, it wont work. People all the time complain about the gas prices no one ever does anything about them...like this strike! I wont buy gas on the 19th but I am sure this wont work anyways. We are paying 2.19 to 2.28 for Regulare Gas here....its price gauging for sure! ~~~Humming Bird |

those people here who are able to should do it, I wish they would do something like that over here in Australia or for that matter worldwide, but as the majority of Aussies are so laid back, they'll pay no matter what it costs, ...its downright robbery the cost of petrol....hugs |
