I had the freakiest thing happen to me yesterday. I came home from work at about 1 in the afternoon. My mom had the front door locked (no one was home), so I went through the patio. I went on the computer for a while, until about 1.45-2 or so, but since I was bored, I decided to go to my grandparent's house. First, I went upstairs and went to the bathroom, so I had the bathroom door partly closed. I then decided to touch up my makeup. I had just finished putting mascara on, when I heard a man's voice say "Hello" coming from the living room. I jumped, then thought it must be one of my dad's friends dropping something off for him or something. I went out of the bathroom, which leads directly into the living room--no one there. So I go to the front door, which is also next to the living room, no one there. So I got freaked out, threw some shoes on, and ran out the door. Or at least I tried...the front door was still locked--so it was NOT possible someone had come in and left (I would have heard them even if they had, but still).
I have no clue what it was I heard. I've often thought my house was haunted, but it's pretty new, only a few years old, so I think it may be the land we're on. We are only a couple miles from a really old cemetary. I'm convinced our old trailor house was haunted, which we lived in on the same property before we built our house. So perhaps the ghost followed me? My sister and I have noticed little things happening before in our home--things moved when no one was home to move them (like keys, knick knacks, those sort of things), the feeling someone is watching you. I've come home more then once and thought I heard music in the house when there was no music playing and no one was home. One time I was downstairs when I thought I heard my parents come home (I heard the door open and people walk in and everything), and since I needed to ask Mom something, I went upstairs, only to find no one there. Sometimes it sounds like someone muttering, but never an actual voice, until yesterday.
This was the first time I've ever heard an actual voice. It was almost definitely male, it was very deep, but rather hollow sounding. It came from our living room, not very close to the bathroom, but on the other end of the living room. If anyone has any thoughts on what to do, how to communicate, or anything, please let me know! It's rather exciting to be residing with a ghost, but at the same time, terribly frightening! Or, if there's an alternative to what I heard, if it may have been something normal, let me know. I try to remain skeptical and look to scientific reasons for ghosts before simply concluding it was one, but I'm pretty positive my house is haunted.
