Passport Questions...

I was wondering where you go to get a passport, how much it costs, what you need with you in order to get one, etc. My parents are letting me fly over to visit my brother in England so I'll need a passport and my parents aren't quite sure how to go about getting one.

Date: 5/17/2004 4:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    you need to go down and get a photo taken any good photo/camera/developing store(i think walmart even does them) you will need to fill out a form send off the picture and probally a peice of ID(like birth certificate!) and it can take anywhere from a few weeks up to a few months depending on how backlogged they are
Date: 5/17/2004 4:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    Go to the post office, they will give you all the papers to fill out. LOTS of writing, believe me. It cost over a hundred dollars, all this; and plus getting a close up head shot photo made. You'll need your birth certificate, marriage license, drivers license, etc. It takes 4-6 weeks to get your passport.
Date: 5/17/2004 4:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 54968    Sorry, I don't know. But have a fun time!
Date: 5/17/2004 10:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 17081    I think it works like a lottery. A guy from Nigeria that I talk to is trying to get in the U.S.A. He was turned down the first time.
Date: 5/17/2004 10:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    Like Thinker said, go to the local post office. Anytime that anyone in our family traveled overseas, that is all we have had to do.
Date: 5/17/2004 10:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 12341    And we only needed passports before 9/11 to travel to germany, but I'm sure with the proper documentation, birth certificate, and whatever else, you will be fine.
