- (For Aslan)-
When the dogwood trees quit barking At the face of the moon And the dandilions stopped roaring Long past afternoon
In the stillness of the grass I wondered To the rose bed where you sleep And tried to recall to myself I’m much to old to weep
There’s not a day that doesn’t pass That I cry out your name Nor an evening that fades away With dreams I have to blame
You belong here with me I’m selfish, yes I know And the cruelest of nature’s act Is when I had to let you go
Wild I let the weeds grow To keep your jungle mighty And taunt the crows with sassafras To keep them crying nightly
I don’t look to the starry sky I look to the ground instead Await each season for the rose That grows above your head
I know where you are And I know you’re alright For In the jungle, the mighty jungle The lion sleeps tonight
