I know it may seem strange hearing from me after all these years, but I was in the neighborhood of these thoughts and felt the need to clear up a few things.
I realize now that in the days to come as I age along with the trees here I will probably start to think less of what the world has to offer me and more of what I should be offering it. And when the world finally finds me it will become an easy task to accomplish. In the words of a mutual colleague of ours ‘be forever present even if your mind was left at home.’
I recall that day at the convention where you gave a lecture on Metaphysics vs The Oz Theory. I was intrigued by your intellect. What I was wondering was if I should have taken it literally or hypothetically? I suppose by now you’re thinking it really shouldn’t matter. Actually I took it, as I often do, hypothetically. I hope you are not displeased.
I have often tried to put such practices into my daily life, yet find that I fail miserably at keeping up with them. Setting clocks and counting signs often distort my view of such theories. I have come to believe that there is a time when one has to set signs and count clocks in order to face the day objectively. It often comes to mind when I think back on your words, that random thoughts don’t always accompany the random words we chose.
I heard from the paperboy that you’ll be lecturing again this fall. He tells me you have compiled a thesis on Quixotism. That to me sounds very interesting, I shall have to attend. In it I hope to find enough resources to reference for my epitaph. For I plan to have several tombstones.
Hope to speak with you there.
Sincerely yours, The Dean of Dreams
