Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I love bats! They are actually quite facinating creatures. Like, you know the dreaded vampire bats? If a baby falls to the cave floor & can make it back onto the wall, the other bats will adopt it. If one is sick & can't get out of the cave to eat, the others will come back & actually feed it like a mama bird does for her babies. Also, scientists are trying to make a heart drug based on the vampire bats saliva & it's anti-cougulant properties. But vampire bats are only one of I thousands of types of bats.....Bats make up 1/4 of all mammals on the earth. I find them so facinating because there are so many awesome little facts about them like there's a flowering cactus in Arizona that wouldn't exist without the bat feeding on it & then spreading it's pollen, the south american fruit bats are helping to reverse the negative effects of killing off the rainforest by reseeding it, the fishing bat has echolocation so precise it can detect a fish's fin, the size of a human hair above the water's surface. Honduran tent making bats are little white fuzzy ones, with cute little faces, they will chew a leafs spine & actually make a little tent for themselves. Without bats, we would be in hades, they eat so many mosquitos that would be biting us. To me, they are essential for a healthy planet, each different species of bat has so many positives...like you know the old stereo type that bats have rabies....only.01% of the population actually does. I dunno, I know I'm going on here, I just find them amazing creatures, I'll sit outside my house & have them zoom past my face, I find them graceful & actually quite intelligent & last summer I had the honor of having a "nursery" in my chimney. Little brown bats usually only hang in groups of 10-15..they gather together to have babies, I had 40 in my chimney. To me, I admire the bat, so many different species with so much to offer & if you have seen my Admin award, it is a Chinese symbol, the Wu Fu, which means the five bats of happiness & each bat stands for a different thing....Wealth, Longevity, Sound Body, Love of Virtue & a peaceful end, I hope to get a tatoo of it one day. I hope you can look past the negative stereotypes they have & see them for the amazing creatures that they are.
