One things for sure, when a person judges someone else, little do they know, that unknowingly they have also judged themselves. |

I guess both my parents are too, and it bugs me... I said to my daughter recently when we noticed all the things my parents were saying about people, "Don't mind them they are just judging everyone" LOL I guess you had to be there but it was pretty funny at the time! LOL I love my folks dearly, but the comments and judgments really stood out... |

I dont think our brains are wired to realise that we are NOT always right..LOL..And when the brain hears something that might contradict our "FACT" we retaliate.. |

I try not to be, but I still find myself being more judgmental of those close to me than those I don't know. I guess I am sometimes, but maybe sometimes it's a good thing. Imagine a serial killer who's been caught. If no one judges this killer, than there's is no one to punish them or put the killer in jail. He would just be free to go on killing people, and not be able to worry about being judged. |

As for having judgemental family..My Grandmother was the QUEEN of Judgemental..I remember growing up, she had an opinion on everything and everyone..hmmm..I wonder if genetics play a part in this? |

LL interesting cuz I think some people are wired to automatically think they are wrong, or less than... perhaps not wired but their basic instinct... like I said I do think it a choice but true too you have to recognize where you have a choice... |

That is an excellent post and I really appreciate you posting it! I dont know why people are judgmental. I cant help but to wonder if they trait of it is learned and is passed down from generation to generation...do you think it is? I know some dont mean to be..but others that I have encounerted I really believe they do. You can disagree with someone without the personal attackes on how one feels...I understand that many have grown up with judmental personalities in the family, and many dont pick up on that behavior, but I wonder if others do? Any how, just wanted to stop in and say great post! Point very well made and thank you! Sorry such a long reply! ~~~Humming Bird |

I guess Hummingbird, it could be learned... or at least recognized as a family trait... I have often wondered how I am not more judgmental than I am with my family, but then maybe I am and I just don't realize it!! |

Well its impossible to not be judgemental sometimes, but the important thing is that whenever u meet someone go into the relationship open minded and dont precondemn people. And talking about famous people is pretty stupid sometimes, as none of us really no what some of those people really r like. |

I think were all judgemental in our ways. No two people are going to agree on anything for long especially if it comes to religouse views. I get judged because I tell people of the things I do believe that God has said or His will for us. I apparently judge others when they say something to the contrary. |

As far as I'm concerned there is nothing that makes someone being judgemental about another person okay...none of us are perfect, we all have some fault, whether it be large or small, and if we can just see the reason as to why someone is maybe different to our way of thinking or whatever, and believe me, there is always a logical explanation, I think the world would be a far happier place...just my opinion though hun....hugs |

*STANDS APPLAUDING*!!!!! One of the very best posts I have ever read on USM, Jungabel! Thank you....the funny part is, people who are so positive they are the holders of the "Truth", or a "truth", and they feel they must expose this "wrong", are usually trying to re-direct the attention from themselves. Either that, or people who sit in judgement of others, might just be trying to convince themselves of their own "correct" position. I hope this post gets "rated" over-and-over again! |

I don't know but maybe this is a little bit off the topic, but...aren't we all judgemental and don't we have to make judgements constantly? Some are judgemental upon a lot of things, but everyone is judgemental. Are we not coming upon an election where we will make a judgement call as to who we think will best serve our country and her interests? Our basic survival requires judgement calls constantly. What else do we have to go on if we aren't judgemental? The difference is, people need to know when to shut up and stop expressing their judgement of others when it's something they should clearly keep to themselves about. But we will make those judgements and pretty much have to anyway. |

Az is right, it's human nature, but taking THAT one step further is humans who act rationally WON'T be judgemental without realizing they are just a small slice of the pie themselves. |

People can judge one another all day long. Bad parents, bad pet owners, bad housekeepers, too many tatoos or dyed hair, too much make up, to scaantily dressed. Too self involved. Who CARES? And WHY? |

We are all judgemental because we built our personal lives based on conditioning from our environment, and we "need" to protect it, and we have conditioned thoughts about it all day and conditioned opposing thoughts about the differences of others, and WE ARE ASLEEP TO OUR OWN THOUGHTS and think that they are what is REAL. |

I never feel justified judging anyone, I always take one step back. Who and where we come from, simpl as that. As for me, the south, and I had to REALLY Grow to stop worrying about what others do and why. I just base it on human judgement of the "most human kind", beat a kid, I will see you in court. And try hard to put you somewhere the sun never shines. Same goes for all extreme lawbreakers. Little stuff, is just little stuff until it hurts someone else. Literally. |

Well, I agree with you that we are all equal and have an equal right to believe in any way we choose. But I don't agree that disagreeing with someone necessarily means you are PASSING judgment or being judgmental. There is a difference between JUDGMENTAL and JUDGMENT. The definition of JUDGMENT is "the formation of an opinion after consideration or deliberation." We ALL exercise judgement. And there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. We do not all have to agree or accept the same thing. For example, a Christian does not agree with a Jew regarding the divinity of Jesus Christ. Does that mean Christians are being judgmental of Jews? or Vice Versa? No. Each group merely forms "an opinion after consideration or deliberation." If a Jewish person said "All Christians are going to HELL!" then that would be judgmental. But if a Jewish person says, "I disagree with the Christian doctrine that Jesus Christ was the Son of God." Then he/she is merely exercising judgment. I feel completely justified in exercising judgment, because I believe that's why we each have a brain. So we can think and feel and make our own observations and conclusions. And I am not offended when others exercise judgment. Even if it means their disagreement is with me. |
