Natural Selection and the Cloning of Endangered Species

I don't know how many of you beleive in Natural Seletion/Survival of the fittest. I beleive in it to a certain point.

I wanted your thoughts on this.

Posted on MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5526627/

They discuss in this article how scientist are taking DNA and tissue specimens from 1000's of endangered species and freezing them for later study.

They also discuss possibly cloning new animals from the tissue and DNA.

Doesn't this go against the whole Natural Selection Theory? Just like Dinosaurs, if they were meant to survive wouldn't they be here now? Or for religious people, if God wanted them to be here they would survive, right?

Why do humans think it is ok to mess with nature and play God?

I understand that we are cutting down forrests and eating lots of animals, and weather issues and all sorts of things can make a species extinct, but isn't that the whole idea of the theory?

I don't know, I just wanted to hear your thoughts on this.

And I think that it is awesome to clone animals to keep them alive because some of the endangered species are killed by people, like poachers and stuff, so I think they are still meant to live, and I think that cloning makes up for the killed animals. *hugs* Hope i was on the topic.. He he.. *hugs*

Date: 7/28/2004 8:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 62728    I think the biggest thing is that by man moving in and destroying their habitat, it's a little less on the natural selection side of things. It's not like many animals are being weeded out because they can't cut it on their own in their own environment. To me it's different. We have a responsibility to look after the planet and its animal life more than we do. -DeltaRebel
