wow! you sound like a very mature and responsible person. i think alot of people judge on age because they see more people that age that still act like children. i know some relatives of mine are around that age and act like they are 12. lol but, seriously, it is wrong to judge someone on their age. some people mature faster than others and there are people out their that dont realize that. |

I guess because most 21 years old sit in their parent's house and drink all day and party all night instead of making something out of their life like you. They might think that you one of those 21 years old that do that. Just keep your head up and continue to make something out of yourself. Good Luck! |

people have associated (wrongly and rightly at times) age with experience. |

A lot of people think that the older you are the more mature and smarter you are, while this can be true..it doesn't mean all younger people are immature and stupid. It sucks when people treat you like a child, when you're not. I'm sorry they make you feel like a child, maybe one day they'll notice how mature you really are and treat you like it. |

We are bad about 'lumping' people together.. the youth today, (for us oldies) seem irresponsible and just plain rude... most of them are, but there are the rare ones, I already know that... my daughter, Amanda is one of them tooo... Just dont let it bother you what others say. I guess that was one of the hardest things I ever had to learn, ... NOT to worry about what ANYONE says about me... they dont pay my bills, they dont put groceries in the fridge, they dont put the car in the drive... so they have NO right to judge you, ... sounds like you are a young lady who has her act together!!! I applaud you!!! Good luck sweety :) |

age only matters when you are dealing with cheese and wine... i have met a few 8 year olds that could give better advice than some 48 year olds... it is all in how you perceive the world. i am 19 and have older family members come to me for advice, granted i sometimes don't know the whole stories of things or how some things work; i accept my youth and lack of needed wisdom to help every one of the problems and others outside my family, even the family friends seem to think what i say weighs less than that of my 20 year old cousin who up and moved to florida for no reason and has little money and no less took their 3 month old child with them... something you don't do unless you CAN and DO have the money and a place to go, unfortunately we haven't heard from her much. i just think it is funny how they could take her advice or thoughts over mine. |

I'm in the same boat as you are. I am 20 years old and I am very, very responsible. All of my friends and people I know around this age are responsible also. If they live at home, they're all going to college to make the best of their future. I work 40 hours a week saving money for my college education, while living on my own and helping my family out with money as much as I possibly can. I know exactly how you feel. People treat me as if I don't know what I'm doing and I'm too young to know. I have known irresponsible 21 year olds, but I have also known very irresponsible 40 year olds. I think it is just something we will have to learn to put up with, unfortunately. |
