mmm... bread, i will go on no diet that prevents me from eating atleast the required servings of every type of food. don't make sense to cut out something without a good reason to, and a fad diet is hardly the reason to... |

I tried going on the Atkins diet a couple years ago and I was only able to do it for one week. I can't live without that much carbs, such as rice. LOL. Gotta have my rice! It's all just a big fab. |

Years ago, a Dr. Stillman put out a high protein diet very much like Dr. Adkins. I read his book and the only difference I remember right now was that Adkins allowed salads and some veggies and Stillman didnt. So this sort of diet has been around at least 30 years that I know of. It works though, and most overweight people ALREADY are taking in huge ammounts of fats per day anyway, so cutting out the Carbs is a plus for them. LOL @ Adkins sitting in the Bahamas enjoying all his money!!! Stranger things have happened :) |

It's not a fad diet. Atkins has been around since the 70s. I have lost 40 lbs as of yesterday on Atkins and I doubt I will be having a heart attack any time soon. My cholesterol is great now and my blood pressure is down not to mention a myriad of other health benefits. |

You have a very good theory. It could of happened, who knows. I tried going on the Atkins diet, I only lasted one day. I can't live without bread and some carbs in my life. ~Star Angel~ |

im on low carb and to be honest ive lost a good amount of inches but i did notice i was eating way to many meats and bad meats at that so I changed it I started eating fruits and veggies and i still eat meat I LOVE MEAT but i eat chicken and fish and crabs and shrimp mmm im getting hungry. but I noticed with the dedication and 2 months i should have lost just alittle more. so thats why I changed it around I still dont eat bread and pasta I do eat the wraps now and maybe some soup. but the atkins said not to eat most fruits and veggies and that is bull crap I think he did die off of his own diet and they just lied about his death. the best diet is exercise |

I could make millions of dollars on my diet, the Eat Right and Excercise diet, all I need to do is write a book about it, then stage my own death, and poof. Instant millionaire. |

the rumor is that Dr. Atkins died of a heart attack, which the Atkins foundation tried to cover up by saying the death was caused by a fall and that he was in perfect health. Turns out he wasn't in perfect health-- he had been diagnosed with heart disease a couple years prior, which the Atkins foundation now concedes, but says it was "caused by a virus." Funny that this only come out after the fact. Just maybe they thought that "Dr. Atkins diagnosed with heart disease" in the headlines wouldn't make very good publicity for their multi-million dollar business. |

I sympathize with this view. It wasn't that long ago that the Atkins diet was said to be dangerous to the health. It's animal fats that we really need to be careful of... among other habits, i.e. generally eating too much, drinking too much, slouching around too much. In fact, doing too much of everything. I still eat bread, but in moderation. Everything in moderation, except rat poison. Even bacon, but not MC Bacon! |

^ Even rat poison used in moderation can be used for medicinal purposes. When my grandma was young she had amoebiasis and I think they used arsenic to treat her illness. Arsenic- it's not just for rodentcide. |
