Here I am at work. The boss has gone golfing for the day. Whoohoo! He informed me today that he has made me a co-owner of the company. Whoohoo again! Just what I always wanted. To be responsible for a failing company. *sarcasm* (long story) Anyway, I'm the office manager, administrator, book keeper, whatever you want to call me. Just don't call me a secretary. That is so politically incorrect. It has taken me 2 years to get the boss to stop calling me that. So I'm sitting here thinking about quitting my job. I do that a couple of times of day when I get a few minutes. Instead of thinking about the bad, such as the IRS and how I'm going to make payroll tomorrow, I shall list the reasons I can't quit my job. Here they are....
10. Where else am I going to find a job where I write my own paycheck? That is, when there is money to write me a pay check at all.
9. I get to come and go as I please...when the boss isn't looking anyway.
8. I have my very own office to hang silly quotes and pictures in.
7. I get paid for a 40 hour week when I'm only here 32 hours and only do about 10 hours of actual work. (it's okay, the boss knows)
6. I get to talk long distance to my mother for nothing.
5. There is never anyone here to bother me. I can go days without seeing another living human being in this building. However, I sware I've seen several non living beings around. Or I could be hallucinating.
4. Free coffee.
3. I get to tell a bunch of egomaniac men what to do.
2. I'm on a power trip. I stay awake at night inventing ways of telling our customers/contractors to pay up or I'll break their legs. Not that they listen anyway but I like to think I have the ability to shake things up.
1. And the number one reason I can't quit my job....My boss won't let me. I've tried but he says we are going to grow old together. The thing is I think I've already aged considerably in the two years I've been here. I feel sorry for the guy. I'm like the only friend he's got and I don't even like him.
So I guess I'll stay at least until the IRS comes and puts a new lock on the door. I may have to wait a few days for my paycheck but at least I know I'm first in line. *smiles*
