I haven't been there but I hope to see a FULL account of it posted when you get back. You're right, it does sound charming, probably VERY peacful too. |

I don't know that much about the Amish. There is a small Amish community not far from where I live. It's Yoder, KS. Are there different degrees of this? I have seen some Amish girls in Missouri, and they had on the floor lenght dresses that were black, and dark blue. They had on the big floppy bonnets. I had watched "Amish In The City", and they weren't dressed like those young people on there. |

I love the Amish. Just remember to show them respect as they tend to be offstandish. They make the BEST cheeses and baked goods in the world IMO. I go to a store that sells their stuff. Some day I hope to go to one of their communities as well. |

Amish people are so funny! In Pennsylvania, where I'm from there are a lot of Amish people around. My grandma and I always go out that way to buy fruit and plants and stuff; they have awesome strawberries! They hired an Amish man to lay their wood floors, and he did an amazing job. They just had to go and pick him up each time they wanted him to work. They're pretty rich too, but I know they definitely got a lot for doing their floors. And they don't have to spend any on taxes or anything...My grandma was telling me about how they go shopping at the outlets...She's always trying to hook me up with an Amish boy, but for some reason I don't think that'll happen...lol...They're really nice though, but I like my electricity... |

I personally think the Amish have a bad body odor so I don't like to be around them. At least the ones I have ran into up north in WI. |

I went to get my license renewed yesterday and there were 2 Amish guys in there with their birth certificates. I live pretty close to Amish people. 10-15 minute drive. They are polite people. They are all named Byler or Yoder. No electricity. Alot of them build barns or work with wood. The kids have fun without the fancy toys. I personally like and respect the Amish.
