I used to not be able to look at people's eyes when they talked. I watched their mouths instead. After a while though I got tired of looking at their icky teeth so I shifted back up to their eyes, LOL |

I have that problem sometimes. I will look in between their eyes or right above so it looks like I am looking at them |

Well I wouldn't say it's a problem. It's probably a good thing. You wouldn't want to ever stare them in the eye continuously. Make eye contact but don't just delve deep into their souls by looking in their eyes. I'd do like SUnni suggests and look slightly above their eyes to their eyebrows, look away for a second and things like that. Males tend to interpret too much direct eye contact as a challenging move and don't tend to like it. It can be very intimidating to some people. Just go with the flow...make eye contact and look away for a seconda and then look back...it's perfectly normal. -DeltaRebel |

ya, i dont know why...im glad its a natural thing because most people i know can stare and stare and i just stare for a second or two. i feel like they can know what im thinking and know everything about me..i cant descibe the feeling but i dont like it. like an intrusion of privacy. - Blade of the Samurai |

I don't like to do it, it can feel threatening...unless of course I WANT to be intimidating....then I do it on purpose and just hold the stare! |

I know what you mean, I do start to feel uncomfortable when I look someone in the eyes for a long time. I've noticed, though, that when I don't look away from their eyes, they always do. Someone eventually always looks away; I think it's just human nature - staring someone in the eyes for a while is meant to be intimidating. -BlueCrushSurfer |

I actually have the opposite problem. I stare into someone's eyes too much that I make a lot of people feel nervous when they talk to me. I think I just love it when someone looks into my eyes when I'm talking because I feel like I'm being listened to, so I do the same back to the other person. |

I have to consciencely make myself look someone in the eyes, especially in business situations. I find that when I talk to someone personally, I always look at the mouth. |

*Shakes her head* Eye contact is impossible for me, I can't even talk to someone while looking at them in the eyes for 2 seconds, I feel too uncomfortable and nervous. |

I only have trouble if it is someone I don't know very well because I am a shy person when I first meet someone new. Anyone else I don't have trouble; when you go on an interview and you feel you wont be able to keep eye contact just make sure they see you are paying attention and glance at them every once in a while that way it shows you can make eye contact when needed. Good luck and dont worry to much :) |

I have a habit of looking at people's mouths too. I thought it was just me! I usually have to consciously force myself to look people in the eyes! |
