Hey all! I got the top part of my ear pierced for the 2nd time last saturday and today it's suddendly swollen up a bit and is quite painful, was just wondering if anyone else has had this and what helps? Admittedly I haven't been using the ear care lotion too much, but do you think i'll have to take it out? Thanks love ya all *Mizzmintz*

Date: 8/6/2004 5:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 46527    If you take it out you risk the outer layers of skin healing over and stopping any remaining infection from draining away, possibly ending up with an abcess. The best thing you can do is to keep it scrupulously clean for a week and see if things improve, if not then it might be one of the piercings that just DO not heal and can end up as huge puffy scars. If there's no improvement after a week then go back to the place where you had it pierced and ask their advice. Good luck!

Date: 8/6/2004 10:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 47218    is it red and emitting pus? because, these could all be symptoms of an infection, and if you do think it's infected, you need to see a doctor because if it spreads, you will have a big problem.
Date: 8/6/2004 11:24:00 AM  From Authorid: 35824    Sounds like you have an infection. The thing that works wonders for me is an antiseptic spray called bactine. You can find it in the pharmacy section of a supermarket.
Date: 8/6/2004 11:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 33573    I would take it out and maybe put some alcohol on it or peroxide? I got mine pierced in October but I have a huge bump on the back of my earright now so i have to take it out for awhile :(
Date: 8/6/2004 11:49:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 53507    What would happen if it got badly infected?

Date: 8/6/2004 4:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 12103    I know if it gets infected puss will come out and your whole ear will be red and it would hurt quite a bit...I would just use proxide...But i know i had my upper ear pierced and i waited for months and months and it never healed so i just took it out.
Date: 8/6/2004 6:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 30786    LOL I was just thinking the same thing. I got the top part of my ear pierced about a week ago, and it is bugging me too! It sucks to not be able to sleep on that side, answering the phone, tucking my hair behind my ears, etc. I say to just keep it very clean and clean it 3 times a day. If you need to whine about it, feel free to message me!
