I think he's a great role model for gay youths and youths in general. Such a talented and brilliant actor who finds no fault in who he truly is and ain't afraid to show it. My kind of guy. =) |

You mean there are some actors who are not Gay? I thought it was a prerequsite. But I like good movies and so it never bothered (s) me. You know "don't ask don't tell." Its like I don't care. I suppose I might though if I was hot on a cutie actress and she turned me down because she was gay. Don't know though it never happened to me...with a cute actress anyway. Just a girl I went to school with who I had a thing for...but hurrah!...her little sister was straight. Lucky me. |

Wonderful actor and it doesn't bother me in the least. I think he was the perfect choice to play Gandalf. I don't think anyone could have played it better. -DeltaRebel |

Doesn't change my opinion of him. I love Sir Ian McKellan as an actor. He portrays his characters with strength and class. |

No, I knew, and it didn't change my opinion of him, just as it didn't change my opinion when I found out Stephen Fry was gay; its just not an issue. Who cares what sexual preference a person is, it doesn't affect their ability to do their job. A Knight Out was very good, not only a good play in its own right, but a wonderful play on words with the title (both his own and the play's of course) ;-) |

No it does'nt bother me. Why should it? Acting is all about imagination and fantasy. As long as the person can act well and I like the character, I don't care what actor(s) do in their personal lives (assuming its legal). |

I've loved the man ever since I saw his workshop on MacBeth 15 years ago-- he analyzed Macbeth's famous monologue line by line, and then gave a delivery of it that sent chills down my spine, it was so beautiful. And I'm entirely sick of hearing about his sexual orientation. It's all over the boards on the net, and it seems that so many people are fixated on his sexuality that they overlook everything else about him like, um , what a fantastic actor he is, because the gay thing is just fascinating...makes me think that many people are secretely closeted. |

I did, it was fantastic. I agree Peridot Cat, heck even some things that are illegal wouldn't bother me, as long as its not hurting anyone else (say, if they were smoking weed, or perhaps [shock horror!] breaking their own property [see my friend Tandris' post on a stupid law, author id 41067]). |

I love him as an actor, and no, I didn't know he was gay. But I have no problem with homosexuality and in fact it makes me admire him more for being so open and unashamed about it |

Yup, I knew he was gay, it makes no difference at all, he is an amazing actor. My mom, joking around of course, calls him Gandalf the Gay,instead of Gandalf the Gray, she loves him in the LOTR movies! |
