"Last line of defense"....kronk

The queen is sleeping quietly,

while the king is at his desk-

Princess plays with her tiger cub

The young prince has "flown the nest."

The palace guards are rolling dice,

while spies are moving 'round.

Beyond the hill, cannon are set,

to bring the lofty keep's wall down.

High atop a freezing mountain,

barely sheltered from the cold-

A lowly thief, I watch, as the

deadly drama does unfold.

I would surely cry a warning,

if I only had a tongue.

But alas, the king's man took mine

and my legs, when I tried to run.

I'll just plug my ears with rags against

the screams and the cannon's roar.

And I'll close my one good eye against

the raging fire and the blood and gore.

Yes, I'll bide my time and wait 'till

they're all done with their evil doings.

Then I'll crawl down the mountainside

and make my home amongst the ruins.
