We lived inside this fortress of denial,
All safe in dreams outside the real world.
Fire wasn’t meant to be our trial
As long as disbelief remained our shield.
Where were you when you heard the news?
At work, at play,
Complacent in the cozy day?
Look outside, then look within.
Are we so without sin?
Now we must deal with all the ugly truths.
Our teenaged land,
Convinced it could not die must now face death,
As we walk hand in hand,
Confronted with the demise of superman.
