Get some finger foods (chips, sandwiches, etc). Also make sure you get the drinks! Everyone could come in a costume and you could have a costume contest. Give fun prizes for most original, best dressed, best couple, etc etc. Have scary halloween music playing! |

It sounds like you're on the right track! I've thrown a Halloween party every year for the last five years...and I've learned a few things. Don't stress about everyone else having fun...it's more than likely that they will. Have some fun foods and drinks...try to have the kinds of food that people can eat with their hands...it's easier on you and them. You should have a costume contest and get some fun little prizes...also..you need good music and decorations...pumpkins, straw and cornstalks can do wonders. I'm sure that your party will rock!!! Good luck!!! |

One of the things we did at our party was hang a marshmellow tied tightly on a string that is nailed into a board and made sturdy so it can handle tugging, (sort of like thumbtaking something into a ceiling with a string hanging down with a marshmellow on the end of the string) Lol.. the game was for whoever could finish the marshmellow without it dropping on the floor wins, they had to swallow the marshmellow too. It is alot harder than it sounds as the marshmellow is light weight and moves around when you try to bite into it, Lol.. The longer the string the harder it is (-: But you want it at a level where people have to slightly bend to reach it... that one went over real well (-: |

By the way.. that fake spiders web stuff is really cool to place around too :D The people that win the games should get a prize too.. prizes can be cheapie things, it is the fun of it all that counts (-: |

Some tips on making things less stressful for you: get some help, make sure you are prepared way before the party starts, be ready for rain, have plenty places for people to sit, and have someone direstly in charge of music (or else download all the best songs and burn some CDs)...music is very important to a successful party. You could make up some fun boxes that people can put their hands into that feel gross. You could also make like a haunted house. Use your imagination...this is one time that it okay to have some crazy, demented ideas. |

You should make it look really cool, like get a caldron(sp), one of the plastic ones will do, put dry ice and water I think in it, then it a different bowl but like punch in it then put it in the caldron(sp), makes it look really cool. Maybe have candles every where. Or something like that. |

candles at a party with costumes and dancing and stuff could be dangerous if placed too close to the party area.. strands of christmas lights with orange bulbs would be safer. (-: |

If no one commented on this, I love the lighted jack-o-lanterns (electric kind). Have several of those sitting in various places. |
