Observations by an Air Force Pilot

I wanted to share this email that I received and really enjoyed reading. I'm looking forward to reading your replies. *Rachel* I'm confident that in approximately 15 minutes this article will be in the inboxes of every resident of the free world and maybe even a few people in France. Chris Thomas, Air Force Pilot: I would like to add my two cents about my own personal experience with Senator John Kerry. During my career as an Air Force pilot, I spent two years flying a small twin engine prop plane around the Pacific from my base in Okinawa, Japan. On one trip we had to fly Senator Kerry, his congressional aide, and a Navy Captain (Vietnam, A-4 fighter pilot) who was also in Kerry's party to various locations in Vietnam and Cambodia as part of the MIA/POW talks.

When I met him, he was wearing a shirt with a picture of his sailboat on it. I told him I had a 27' sailboat in Okinawa, he remarked "Oh I never sail on anything less than 135 feet." Thanks, Senator, "I feel even better about the meager salary I get paid for flying you around the Pacific."

When we first flew him into Phnom Penh, he went to; the back of the airplane and grabbed the pizza that was put aside for the crew and passed it around to his staff. He was never offered any pizza because they were supposed to have lunch with the Cambodian government when we landed. The pizza was the crew's only meal for that day and he ate it. Then when we picked him up in Cambodia, he was an hour late getting to the airport. Because fuel was an issue, we could not start the engines and therefore the air conditioning until he arrived. Phnom Penh at that time was over 100 degrees with 95% humidity and we were basically sitting in agreenhouse behind the cockpit windows.

When he finally did arrive, we were wringing out our clothes from the perspiration. He walks out of the air conditioned car, into the airplane and asks us "Could you guys get the air-conditioning running, I'm a little warm?" The other pilot had to physically restrain me from going back there and picking a fight. Then we took him into Noi Bai airfield in Hanoi. After we picked him up the next day (he stayed the night in Vietnam,we stayed in Bangkok) we taxied out, ran up the engines for take off and noticed that our prop rpm was vibrating all over the place. We taxied off to the side to look at it, but there was a good possibility that there was an engine malfunction and the engine may fail if we took off with it. Well, Mr. Senator sticks his head up in the cockpit and says "This plane WILL take off, I have a press conference in Bangkok in three hours!" Maybe this is an indication of how he will run the FAA). American service members lives be damned, we had our Senatorial orders. We ran the engines again, and did not have the problem, so we took off and made it back. During the flight, he told everyone how he had taken a Cessna

Date: 9/28/2004 3:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 49101    Yeah, and what "Reliable" scource did this fall out of?
Date: 9/28/2004 3:36:00 PM  From Authorid: 47865    Still nearer to Vietnam than Bush ever got.
Date: 9/28/2004 3:40:00 PM  From Authorid: 62367    Gotta love that propaganda.
Date: 9/28/2004 4:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 24924    Typical Christian propaganda tactics. What gave me the clue? THIS last line:

""a nice God fearing Christian bent on protecting us from terrorist attacks on US soil?" LMAO

Date: 9/28/2004 4:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 47162    They forgot the part, where Satan appeared, and asked Kerry for advice on how to be evil. *smirk*
Date: 9/28/2004 6:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 53689    http://www.snopes.com/politics/kerry/pizza.asp Make sure you read the whole thing...the writer has made some valid points on this. A Bush supporter is going to knick-pick every little thing Kerry does, without bothering to find out Kerry's side of the story, just as a Kerry supporter might do the same to Bush. It comes down to the fact that people are attacking petty things rather than what really matters.
Date: 9/29/2004 5:38:00 AM  From Authorid: 58308    Kerry is an IDIOT and MAYBE one day, his supporters will open their eyes and smell the roses.
Date: 9/29/2004 5:41:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Much as I disdain kerry and people who would immediately brand things like this as, " Typical Christian Propaganda". (what exactly is a typical Christian?) Anyway I've seen this before and I believe it's just another internet spread half truth used as a slam. Very similar to the type of thing you see at moveon.org or the other liberal blogs.
Date: 9/30/2004 11:16:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62901    I definatly agree with Zeebs. I'm all for Bush!!
Date: 9/30/2004 5:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 62787    im glad im still a kid and neither one of these nutters will be on the ballot once i hit 18 in...3 years?! wow...time flies. anyways. even if i could vote, i see Kerry and Bush as two school yard boys who are throwing sand at eachother. - Blade of the Samurai

Date: 10/2/2004 4:54:00 AM  From Authorid: 22080    1. mahe probably feels safer on the larger sailboats. thats like the only guitar ill play cost 600 dollars and up, has nothing to do with income just taste. 2. the pizza thing everyone is guilty of one time or another in their life, you cant tell me noone saw something and thought it was for them, the pilot should have said something to him. 3. the air-conditioning thing. well he prolly didnt know that they couldnt turn the engines on, i know guys that dont mind sweating. i personally would have said the same thing to them. 4. im sure bush has done the same type of thing as with what happened to the prop.

all in all i dont want bush or kerry to win, im all for nader because hes actually willing to give people their rights unlike bush and isnt a democratic version of bushes politics like kerry.

Date: 10/5/2004 12:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 15319    I agree with Thinker. This seems to be some sort of fabrication, most likely by a Christian Pro-Bush group trying to get that monkey back in office to furthur their religious agenda.
Date: 10/5/2004 4:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    "a Christian Pro-Bush group trying to get that monkey back in office to furthur their religious agenda." HUH? Please tell me you're being sarcastic. I guess I'll just leave with....I THINK NOT.
Date: 10/8/2004 11:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 15319    You Choose, do I sound like I'm being sarcastic to you?
Date: 10/11/2004 6:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    Unfortunately....NOT.
Date: 10/11/2004 10:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 15319    Good, at least your thinking.
