My daughters school has really ticked me off !!!!! Appirition

Today when I went to pick up my daughter who is in kindergarden she was standing there with the teacher bawling her eyes out. The teacher was crying and other parents and kids were also crying. I was astounded to find out that the teacher is being moved to another school and our kids that are in her class are being moved to 3 other classes. This outrages me because as anyone who has started a kid in school they have fears and are always scared to death to start school. Seeing as how it has been 4 weeks now that they have been in school the kids have adjusted and love thier teacher. YOu would think they would have done this beofre school started. This teacher is the most kind and loving teacher I have ever seen and watchin her teach is amazing. These kids love her. The reason she is being moved is because the school board has decided that since there are 4 kindergarden classes and only 18-19 students per class they are going to downsize the classes and combine them into 3. Being as this teacher was the last to be hired she is the first to go. I think this is totally unfair and it is tearing my child apart. She is up in her room where she has been for the last few hours crying over her teacher. She no longer wants to go to school and says she will hate her new teacher. Now I know she will adjust and things will be fine but I feel it was totally unfair to spring this on these tiny children, or the parents for that sake at the last minute. I have called the hotline that we are supposed to call to lodge a formal complaint and found that many other parents have called also. I am askin for a meeting with the principal and the board to discuss this problem although I doubt they will do a thing to comfort these children. I think it was wrong to spring this on them and turn trusting children into a world of fear again. They could have atleast given us a notice and maybe a goodbye party for the teacher. Please le me know how you feel about this situation and send your prayers to the children and Mrs. Boston I will be letting her read this. Thanks !

How it changed my life:

Upsets me very much !

Date: 9/29/2004 2:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 27215    I don't blame you one bit for being upset. The school board in every county thinks just as soon as a child starts kindergarden that they are an adult and they treat them as they have no feelings whatsoever. I do admire you for calling a meeting with the school and the school board, but I hate to tell you, that I don't think that it will do much good because they do as they want no matter who it hurts and all that ever comes out of their mouths is that they care so much about our children, well bull snot, they don't give a hoot about the kids or the parents, it is the almighty dollar that they care about. I am sorry to be so blunt, but this just makes me so upset to see how that our kids are treated in this world. Everyone there will be in my prayers and I hope that the children and the wonderful teacher adjusts to the new arrangement.............
Date: 9/29/2004 2:20:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15677    White Fawn I totally agree the school board wont do a thing about it at all. And thier is no way possible a lil peon like me would ever get on a school board as big as this one here in Columbus. The point I am hoping to make is to the PTA here at the home school to see if there is anything we can do as parents to protect our children and thier feelings. Its a shame they can treat them as adults but thier feelings dont count at all.
Date: 9/29/2004 2:38:00 PM  From Authorid: 37101    Unfortunately, it's highly unlikely that the decision will be reversed for any reason. Economically speaking, it might be the best for the school long term. And if the board believes that they're justified, they will feel little remorse for the situation. -
Date: 9/29/2004 2:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 14677    I agree with you completly, although I believe that you can do more than you think. While maybe you wont change their decision about this particular teacher you may make them think twice before doing this again.

Date: 9/29/2004 4:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    Aww, that's heartbreaking. Sometimes the schoolboard really doesn't make sense. they could've at least moved a 3rd or 4th grade teacher if they really had to.
Date: 9/29/2004 5:25:00 PM  From Authorid: 62881    This is just totally wrong! They should have done this before school started or waited until the new school year is over to make such a move like this. Those children shouldn't be subjected to this, it makes learning a little more difficult. When my son was in 5th grade he had 4 different teachers because of different reasons. He had a tough time academically that year.Hopefully everything will turn out ok...... Green Eyed Froggy
Date: 9/29/2004 5:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    They did the same thing here two weeks into the school year. It was the grade one teacher though. They sent the teacher to another school. Its so hard on the little ones.
Date: 9/30/2004 5:01:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15677    Thank you all for the support. I am getting ready to take her into school now and had to call off a job until later just to do so. She is just as scared as she was the first day. I dont think they care that this is hard on the kids and the parnets we cant just drop them off today and hope they make it to thier new class.

Date: 9/30/2004 7:11:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15677    Ok so she went to school and was happy to see some of her friends were in her class. It was total caios and thier were lil lost kids stumbling around everywhere. 2 other parents and I helped each kid find thier new class. It was unbelievable that most parents just dropped thier kids off to find thier own way! They are 5 and 6 for christ sake. Oh well she seems to like the new teacher and after talking with the principal there seems to be nothing anyone can do, its all the schoolboards decision. Ill update agian after she gets home.
Date: 10/2/2004 6:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 10798    Gosh, I hope you and the other parents can do something about this situation. It's a shame since she is doing so well and the kids love her so much. It doesn't seem right to separate them now.
