I'm 75% all for the evolution of us, but I also have a 25% thought that we possibly did come from a higher power, though I like mixing these two up. I like to think we were put here by a higher power, and then evolved, as you said, to learn. If we never evolved, we wouldn't have what we have today.... |

you don't evolve to me, you adapt. and my own biology teacher said we didn't evolve from monkeys--and I don't think he believes in creationism. |

We didnt evolve from monkeys...its believed we both shared a early ancestor , but as far as the evolution chain goes , we didnt come from 'monkeys' |

we didn't evolve from the monkeys that we have today. We and said monkeys might have had a common ancestor fairly close back. |

Well, I believe more along the lines we adapt to our circumstances. I don't believe we evolved from monkey's, but I don't think we didn't evolve within our own species though either. (adaptation). -- |

I see I never really looked at it that way before. Adaptation.... I'm kind of thinking at the moment that adaption could be a form of evolution in a way. Thank you for the interesting comments. I also like the fact that we could have shared the same ancestors as monkeys as that is certainly another strong possibility. I think we share a lot in comon with monkeys (or should I say apes) ghost-Chick |

Hmmm...Interesting Comments. I, however, strongly believe Creationism. Every thing in it's own way adapts to their suroundings. I do believe it is possible that we did adapt to better fit our suroundings...matter of fact, many scientists can show this over thousands of years. But, I myself do believe in a higher being, a God. Just my opinion. Thanks for the topic, was interesting to see everyones views. |

If God created evolution to teach us something, WHY would be have to throw out the Bible?! |

Even without the Bible, you can still prove against evolution. One major proof is the genetic code is too far off, that one species cannot turn inro another. Since we do give birth and the genetic code has to be somewhat different, but if it is just a fraction of a percent, then the offspring will die, that is the main reason why we have misscarriages. |

I do beleive in Natural Selection, that is science, just evolution is not. Most teachers and professors claim to be smart because they have more degrees than a thermometer, but cannot tell the difference between the two. |

What I meant by throwing out the bible is that it does not mention evolution. He created adam and eve. I just thought that in order for a christian to believe in eveolution they would not be able to believe in th ebible as they contradict each other Ghost-Chick |

I don't believe there is a conflict between creationism and evolution, merely the bible's version of creationism and evolution, and then only if you decide to take Genesis literally, which many christians do not. |

Yea, Ghost-Chick, you're right in that most christians who follow the modern church will always take the most literal view of the Bible, but I have come to see that many stories in the Bible (creation for one) is really supposed to be taken as symbolic. I heartily believe that it was to be taken so even when it was written. As a symbolic story, it holds very valuable lessons about man and life itself. Much of the Bible is like that. Whether you think it is literal or not, you have to concede that it holds great lessons about life. |

I can't say that I believe we came from apes or monkeys but the thing is, I've noticed that some people resemble certain animals. Maybe we came from different animals...all we know is that we don't know nothing. |

I agree with Gypsyhawk. The Bible is a very valuable resource because of its symbolic views on life and humans...but to take it literally is dangerous in my book. |

this is how I see the whole debate about evolution and creationalism: just stop fighting about it have them mention both. I find it interesting to listen to the ideas of creationlism. doesn't mean its right, but of course, we don't know anything about that what is right or not. |
