#7) The Disappearance of Molly Bish. At 10:00 am on the morning of June 27, 2000- Mag Bish dropped her daughter off at Comins Pond in Warren, Massachusetts- about 70-miles west of Boston, for what was Molly's 8th day as a lifeguard. Molly grabbed her beach chair, flip-flops, 1st-aid kit, and lunch. She vanished and it wasn't until June 9, 2004 (when authorities located her remains deep in the woods approximately 5-miles from Molly's home) that any trace had been found of the beautiful 16-year-old. The bathing suit Molly was wearing at the time of her disappearance was also located near her remains. Magdelen Bish remembered seeing a man in a white car near the pond, but didn't recall this information until after the abduction of her daughter. The search for Molly Bish was the largest and most costly of it's kind in the state of Massachusetts and the case has been profiled on Unsolved Mysteries, America's Most Wanted, and 48-Hours.
Although there are suspects- authorities seem to stop short of admitting that a serial-predator is lurking in the deep wooded areas of Massachusetts, in towns such as Warren, Stow, and Wayland. I would imagine that a glance at a map of the area would show that all of these towns are in a close proximity. Before Molly Bish- there was Holly Piirainen (10). In August of l993- Holly was walking along a country road near her grandmothers home in Sturbridge, Massachusetts when she simply vanished. All investigators found was a small shoe. Ten weeks later, local hunters discovered her remains in a wooded area near Wayland.
Before Molly Bish & Holly Piirainen there was 9-year-old Sarah Pryor. On October 9, l985, Sarah put on her headphones and was taking a walk along busy Concord Road- she vanished. In April, l995, skull fragments were discovered deep in the woods on the Weston Border, they were later identified as the remains of Sarah.
Before Molly Bish, Holly Piirainen, and Sarah Pryor- there was 16-year-old Catherine Malcomson from Stow, Massachusetts. She left on her bicycle on August 13, 1985, headed for her job in Hudson. She never arrived at work and has never been seen or heard from since. Her remains have never been found.
There are suspects. Men like Oscar Baillargeon, a child rapist that fit the description of the man Mag Bish saw in a white car on the day that her daughter disappeared. John Robert Allen (60) who was arrested in connection with the attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl in Sturbridge. He offered the girl $25.00 to get into his pick-up truck and then told the girl (this was in 1998- 2 years before Molly's abduction) that he was looking for girl with dimples named Molly. A search of his vehicle found pornography magazines, rope, liquor, a book on knots, and maps of the area. Another strong suspect- Robert Armes. However there have been no arrests in any of these cases. It makes me wonder- how much evidence is truly needed to prosecute these dangerous predators and get them off of our streets so that our children can be safe? Just like in the case of John Robert Allen- what more do they need? An attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl? His statements about looking for a girl named Molly (who just happens to vanish 2-years later)? A stockpile of items that could be considered a kidnapping/rape kit in his vehicle?
Our society and our Justice system does too much to protect the rights of convicted sex offenders. These men walk around 'free' while children around them vanish without a trace, only to have their remains be found in the dark and lonely woods in the areas that these men live in, if any remains are found at all..........................
