I know a lot of people believe in dream interpetation, and for my psychology class, we had to interpet a dream that our teacher handed out. My problem with the whole dream interpetation is this:
Dream interpetations are largely based on certain things in dreams mean certain things. For instance, falling. To dream that you fall and are not frightened, signifies that you will overcome your adversities with ease. (1) or To dream that you fall and are frightened, indicates a lack of control, insecurity, and/or lack of support in your waking life. You may be experiencing some major struggle and/or overwhelming problem. It may denote that you have failed to achieve a goal that you have set forth for yourself.(1)
Now, if someone is perhaps a skydiver, the sensation of falling could mean that he's having a dream of doing something he loves, nothing more. Someone having a dream of falling might work somewhere that falling is a possibility, and his fears are entering into his dreams.
It is my belief that a "dream dictionary" is pretty much worthless. Most of what a dream means, would entirely depend on the person, and what the symbol may mean to that person thenselves. For a symbol to mean something for everyone, everyone would have to know what the symbol means. Just because two people have a similar dream, doesn't necessarily mean anywhere near the same thing to them both.
This post is a result of random thinking on my ride home from work today, and in NO WAY is it meant to be taken as an attack against any people who do dream interpetations.
