I'm from Foxburg ... born and raised. The place to which you refer is the Fox Estate. It has been there for years and will remain so as long as people like yourself and your idiot friends don't destroy it! Kindly do us a favor and stay our of our small but respectable home town. It is not a hick town .. just small. If you need a "rush" ... go to Butler. It you need to find a "haunt" ... go to Pittsburgh. |

I know the owner of this house and have been to it numerous times. No haunts, just great views and a great house which is currently being remodled. I would like to hear any other stories, however, as the new owner finds them humerous. |

I was sent this link from my brother. The thing that strikes me the most about this story is the fact that I know this house. I have spent part of the night there with a couple of friends. Although we had several drinks and a few other choice substances running through our systems, none of them could attribute to the sheer terror we have experienced on this hill. The house is quite errie. We went there for the cool view, and started to light a small, controlled fire in the living room. Every time we tried to get it lit, a strange breeze would put it out. We attributed it to the strange wind currents on top of the hill, but eventually we noticed a bone biting chill in the air that seemed quite unusual for the middle of the warmest August on record. We moved our party outside on the crumbling front porch amidst the long tangles of ivy. As we walked outside, the front door slammed behind us. We turned suddenly and saw an eerrie glow behind the boarded up front windows. Running for our lives, we made it to our car took over the top of the hill, no idea where the road led. We eventually came across an old barn and a couple of dimly lit houses, as we rolled by, the courtains of the houses parted and we could see people looking at us go by. I can't help but think that they live with this terror each and evey day. I haven't been back to Foxburg since and don't see any reason to return. The Alleghenny Mountains are full of odditties and unusual phenomenon that i don't want to be a part of. |

This house and the property is actually referred to as "Harvey Hills". The name used to be engraved on the stone pillars that stood at the beginning of the mile-long driveway. The pillars have since crumbled to the ground and have been removed. The view is quite spectacular to say the least, but the home is very mysterious. Rumours of the house are plentiful. I know an individual that has heard of it from his father years ago. He said that a man hung himself in the house several years back. The house itself until recently hasn't been touched for decades. I recall seeing writing on the wall from visitors dating back to 1982. The most common event I have heard about this home is the sudden temperature and scent changes that happen out of nowhere. There are several people that have had disturbing experiences with this home. I myself have been there and will not go back. I know the house has been sold and remodled, but the new owners must know the truth about the home. The real estate agency that was trying to sell it a few years back would not answer such questions like "When was the last time someone lived in the house." Why not? The fact is that they did not want all the stories of the estate being haunted ruin a potential sale. |

Regardless, the house has been sold. What can you share that the new owner should know. For those outside the area, has the house changed at all? Who bought it, what's going on with it? |

I don't kow who bought it, but it did need a astounding amount of remodeling. I have no idea if the people that bought had an idea of the haunting. I'm thinking they didn't. The new owners have had it for three years now and they are probablt still fixing it. It really was in horrible shape. Spooky to say the least. It's a shame it was sold. |

There is one detail I remember about this house that just hit me: In 1994 I knew some guys just like the ones in the story above that went to the university about 30 minutes away. They were in the house at night and got freaked out by something unusual. Instead of driving up the mile long driveway to get to the house when they first got there, they decided to be extremely brave and hike it instead in the dark. The dirt driveway was verrry long and winded up a hill through the woods. So instead of getting in the car and driving down this long driveway after being spooked, they had to obviously walk, or run in their case. That was very tramautizing to them. Running down a dirt road in the middle of the night in the woods after being spooked is something I would not likely enjoy. When they finally got to the bottom of the driveway to the car, they sped away scared scilly. As soon as they pulled out onto the dark wooded road, a car was IMMEDIATLEY tailing them at a high speed with the high-beams on. They were really freaked now, because it wasn't there when they looked down the road at first to pull out, and the car was directly on there tail without slowing down. About a mile down the road there is an old one-way bridge off to the left. They turned on to the bridge, stopped, and looked back. The car was gone. Explain THAT. I to this day get scared when I think of the expression on those guys' faces when they told me the next day. That was probably the sole reason people started going to this place because that was the original story of anyone that I actually new. |

I used to work at the Fox Estate back in 1989'90. I have been in the house many, many times. It is very cold in there but i would say that is because there is no real heating in the house and it is 3 stories high not counting the attic and basement. I've been in almost every room in the house. Not the least bit scary. I've been in all the barns, rode horses in the surounding woods by myself all the time...nothing even remotely scary happened to me. A doctor from Pittsburgh bought the place about 3 years ago. Very rich guy. Has really made an improvement to the grounds and house from what I can see. Oh and by the way.... WE ARE NOT HICKS!! |

Who is this person that posted before me? The Fox Estate? It isn't called the "Fox Estate". The barns you are speaking of collapsed years ago, and house, as stated previously, had graffiti from the early 80's. So how could you have worked there in 1990???
