Feel like someone is sitting on my bed with me

This is my first post here:

The feeling (the actual movement of the bed) of someone sitting on my bed with me when I wake up in the morning started about a year or so ago. Lately, this has been happening to me more and more.....which is about once a week. It only happens when I am in the bed alone and now that my husband and I have separated (9 mo. ago), I am alone more often. (My kids sleep with me often) Sometimes, I would just pull the covers over my head and move my feet around and try to convince myself it was me making the bed move and then just try to forget about it. Lately, I just stay really still because I have gotten so used to it and it still happens and I REALLY feel or know something is sitting on my bed with me. My house is 5 yrs new and the thought of spirits and ghosts REALLY scare the You Know What Out Of Me!! I know they exist but I just try to ignore the reality of it and not think about it cause it scares me. This weekend it happened and i stayed perfectly still and I know there was something that got on my bed with me. I even got brave enough to look and see if I could see the imprint of someone sitting next to me!! I am even brave enough today to talk about it and ask what is it and has anyone experienced something like this?

How it changed my life:

Made me more aware of spirits, ghosts......whatever. It has brought me some peace because I don't feel as if it is evil.

Date: 6/6/2007 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 40350    This used to happen to me when I stayed at my boyfriend's house. He'd get up and leave for work and I'd stay in bed and sleep longer...or at least, try to. I'd keep my feet out and literally FEEL the bed towards the feet end sink like someone was sitting on it. He does have an indoor cat, so I thought it was her. I MADE myself open my eyes and the cat was no where to be seen and I still FELT like something was sitting there. So, I just tried to ignore it and go back to sleep and I felt the bed move again, this time like it had left. Sooooo frightening. Needless to say, I DO NOT sleep at my boyfriend's house alone anymore. Moreso..I CAN'T.
Date: 6/6/2007 9:45:00 AM  From Authorid: 64414    Kellie, that would scare me half to death!!! My brothers ex-wife had a similar experience when her dad died. She was sitting on the bed after his funeral and the family visits and all had ended. She said that he could feel the movement and see the indention on the bed...it looked as if someone had sat down beside her. She, of course, jumped up and ran out of the room. Now, she says that she wished she had tried to communicate with it. Good luck with that sweetie. (((luv n hugs)))
Date: 6/6/2007 9:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 21839    my brother experienced that in one house he lived in... I can be sitting in bed & sometimes I feel it move like someone is shaking it or the earth is movin... I don't feel the ground moving but the bed is.. not sure what that is...
Date: 6/6/2007 9:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 59418    Gosh that's quite frightening! Don't be too afraid though, I'm sure that whatever it is doesn't want to hurt you! It may even be watching over you
Date: 6/6/2007 10:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 4995    I have noticed whenever I move furniture around something weird and spooky happens. My now ex husband had moved our bedroom furniture around...hung a tapestry on the window and one day I was on the internet he YELLED my name out and I came running..he had laid down for a nap and woke up to feel someone sitting on the bed beside him muttering some words he couldnt make out. Now my ex husband is a 275 pound, six foot four,Cheyenne-Arapaho Native American and little could scare him. So yes..I totally believe this story...WOW...
Date: 6/6/2007 10:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 12072    Before I reply to the post, let me just say a big USM welcome! Great first post! I used to have the same experience all the time in my parents house. I would think if it was just me imagining it, it would happen in my home too, but nope, only crazy things happen to me at mom and dad's. (if ya want check out my posts on the subject, they're pretty recent). I wouldn't worry too much if it doesn't seem to have an evil presence.Ever notice any other weird happenings? If so I'd love to hear more!
Date: 6/6/2007 10:25:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    Yup...as crazy as it sounds, when my daughter was about 12 or 13 we had what we think was poltergeist activity and this was one of the things both me and my daughter experienced. It was totally creepy. The dog who slept with my daughter would actually bark and growl at whatever was there. The only thing I can tell you is to ignore it, don't make a big deal out of it and don't talk about it in the house. That's what worked for us and things eventually stopped.
Date: 6/6/2007 10:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 20750    Yes I have & it was freaky to me! I swear it was my beloved cat that had passed on.
Date: 6/6/2007 10:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 20750    Oh & welcome to USM!
Date: 6/6/2007 11:06:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 64488    Thanks for all your posts regarding my experience and for sharing yours. I am glad I am not the only one! Kelly - I would NEVER talk about it in my house it scares me thinking about that and I am just going to continue to ignore it because I don't want to communicate with whatever the heck it is!!! Becky - thanks for the welcome...I will prob share more but not all my stories. kellie
Date: 6/6/2007 11:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 15228    I don't blame you for not wanting to communicate. I noticed with ours the more we talked about it, the crazier it became. Knocking coming from the inside of closet doors, stuff falling in empty rooms and rolling across the floor, terrible nightmares. Someone on this site told me to ignore it and it worked. Seems some things thrive on attention, or gain power from the attention, something like that. The very last thing that I can remember happening was a bottle of cleaner sliding across the counter. I just turned and left the room.
Date: 6/6/2007 12:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 55533    WOW! I've experienced the same thing, except it felt like a cat walking around my bed. (Since my cats always have done that for years.) Somethings I think it's their spirit (for the ones that "left and never returned" but I could also be imagining things. Then again one never knows. It's still freaky as heck!! So try and think of it as a nice relaxing bed message (or bed shaking/movement) without having to pay a quarter! (That is the only way I'll EVER be able to sleep since things like happen a lot and scare the [insert foul language here] out of me.) Denial is always there for you! -smiles nervously and then looks over shoulder-
Date: 6/6/2007 12:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 55533    Oops, typo! Sorry, my bad! Replace "Somethings" with "Sometimes" on the second line in what I wrote.

Date: 6/6/2007 1:31:00 PM  From Authorid: 55533    Oops...-slaps self- I refreshed the page and accidentally repeated my comment. Sorry!! Um...I think I should leave now! Bye!
Date: 6/6/2007 1:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 19586    Thank you for a great first post at USM. These are the kind of posts I love! Welcome!!!
Date: 6/6/2007 3:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 64160    Welcome to the USM journey I had a toy poodle pass, and shortly after that I would be sitting up in bed watching TV, no lights on just the TV, and at the bottom of my bed on the floor I could hear her playing with her favorite toy that had a liitle bell in it. Sometimes would last for half hour. But if i looked down onto the floor it would stop. On those same nights as soon as I turned my TV off and laid down I could feel something 'jump' onto my bed and lay at my feet. I knew. She has know moved forward, and i will never forget her short time of goodbyes with me Thabks so much for bringing this memory back for me
Date: 6/9/2007 2:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 62956    It's strange you say that you recently separated from your husband. When I was going through my divorce from my ex-wife, I had moved into my brother's home and experienced that on a nightly basis. His girlfriend at the time had kids and I would think that it was one of them sitting on the bed lacing his shoes or something but then I never heard or felt them get up so I would look and there was no one there. There does seem to be an attachment to sorrow or anger to whatever is causing this sensation. I had a friend that confided in me about his experiences also shortly after he divorced from his wife also. I personally think it is more than coincidence.
Date: 6/9/2007 9:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 61901    WoW!!! This same thing use to happen to me.... Read thisttp://www.unsolvedmysteries.com/usm422706.html
