Somewhere in August 1996 me and my family took a trip to Langkawi,Malaysia. On the first and second day of the trip we stayed at an expensive resort and everything went fine On the third day to save cost we decided to shift accomodation to a cheaper one.We found a resort from a news advertisement and decided to check it. When we arrived we found out that it was not facing the sea as other resorts but actually it was facing the jungle. Thinking that we only need accomodation for just two nights and the rate was quite attractive,we decided to check-in. They initally gave us two units of appartment which were quite far apart but we insisted that we have two units next to each other. The receptionist's face changed hearing our request and said no such arrangement is possible but we were quite persistent. After discussing with a colleque she finally gave us two units on the top floor which were facing the jungle directly. It was quite errie looking at the jungle but we did not thought of anything as all the other units were filled up. We quickly brought up our luggage and went in. When my brother tried to open my unit's door,he felt that the door was immediately kicked,he tried again and it was fine.Next he tried to switch on the main light switch but again the switch kind of kicked of.After a few seconds he managed to switch it on. The units have three bedroom and I found out that one of my unit's bedroom is locked so we called up front office to open it. I was on my way down to get a few things from the car when the maintenance guy came to give the key to the room.I asked him to go up and open the door himself as i have my hands full but he was quite persistent to hand me the key. Thinking he was busy and could not run up , I took the key and managed to open the door. Everything was fine on the first night even though you can feel some errieness, must be the jungle. But the crowd was having a good time, there was a lot of noise and a lot of people at the swimming pool so everything seems fine. The second night after dinner at about ten pm,we came home and my daughter (1 year) acted funny. Her face seemed to be frightened and she seems to be searching something wildly. She started crying and her eyes were looking at something near the front door which were left open so that the others can come to my unit. Thinking that she was tired, I tried to calm her but the crying became louder and she struggled in my arms as though something is frightening her. I took her to my room and tried to close her eyes but she kept on struggling and cried. I suspected that maybe she has seen something that we cannot see as her eyes are still wild looking all over the places.I decide to recite the verses of the holy Quran to her ears but she sort of fight back and cried even louder.I finally asked my wife to hold her while I recite verses which specifically meant to drive away ghosts/spirits.After a while she calmed down and slept peacefully. Later my brother told me that he saw something at the door, it looked like a lady with a long hair but it was too fast to see the face. Before that on the way up from dinner he and my sisters saw a lady alone in the night standing near the stairs. After the trip when we came home my brother told this story to his office mate .Surprisingly the fiend told that the resort is very near to his grandfather village and there was a lot of stories of female ghosts there during his time. In Malay we called the female ghost 'Pontianak' .They are female ghosts who died during giving birth. Some says when they are burried, black magic practioners would dig back their grave and take a part of their body and this might be the reason why they cannot rest peacefully. Could this be what my daughter saw? It is believed that babies can see things that we adults cannot see. How it changed my life:Not much as I believe in spirits as taught by my religion.
