3 Day Crash Diet?

I have been hearing this diet being talked about alot lately. You are supposedly able to drop 7-10 lbs in the 3 days you do this diet. I have been told it must be followed to a T though. so I don't know. Here is the list of food items:

Day 1, Breakfast. Start with coffee (no sugar), 1 egg, half a grapefruit, and a piece of toast. Lunch is a cup of tuna, together with a slice of toast. Dinner consists of 3 ounces of chicken, a cup of green beans or broccoli, half a cup of carrots and half a banana. If you have a sweet tooth, you can treat yourself to half a cup of regular vanilla ice cream. So, not too extreme, is it? The downside is that such low amounts of food may leave you feeling tired and listless.

On the second day, the menu is pretty similar. Breakfast, an Egg (boiled, scrambled, omlette), half a banana, 1 piece of toast. Lunch, 1 cup of cottage cheese, 8 regular crackers (or 1 slice toast if you prefer). Dinner, 3 oz lean red meat, 1 cup of cabbage, half a cup of carrots, half a banana, and half a cup of plain ice cream as a treat.

On the 3rd day, breakfast is 5 regular crackers with 1 oz of cheddar cheese and an apple. For lunch, you can have a boiled egg with a slice of toast and tea or coffee (no sugar). The main meal of the evening is a cup of cottage cheese, half a cup of carrots, half a cup of cauliflower, and half a melon. As usual, you can treat yourself to half a cup of vanilla ice-cream if you like.

Halloween is Right around the corner.. .

Date: 10/8/2007 6:11:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    I did it once and I lost 12 pounds in 3 days which I gained right back again....its water weight.
Date: 10/8/2007 6:12:00 PM  From Authorid: 11341    Ok, upon closer inspection this wasnt the one that I did, the one I did had beets *gags* But anyway I will bet money you will gain back any weight you lose.
Date: 10/8/2007 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 43991    If you are thinking about doing this I'm going to drive down there illegally and kick you right in your bad foot. You're skinny as heck and you don't need a diet.
Date: 10/8/2007 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    it sounds like cutting out alot of carbs.. and you probably lose alot of water weight and will gain the weight back as soon as your off the diet... i think any diet that has the word "crash" in it is a bad thing... and most often you are just messing around with yoru metabolism and often losing water weight
Date: 10/8/2007 6:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 62849    The Alabama Hospital Cardiac diet? It's a hoax, and VERY bad for you. There's no such thing as an effective *and* healthy crash diet.
Date: 10/8/2007 6:18:00 PM  From Authorid: 62849    And, the reason you'd drop weight? 1. You drop water weight. 2. You're pretty much just starving yourself. 3. The stuff you're eating is low in nutrients, and some of the stuff, like cottage cheese and ice cream, is too high in fat to eat without the nutrients you should be getting.
Date: 10/8/2007 6:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 64242    Crash diets are not good for you - and I agree with Katetastic - you do not need to diet.
Date: 10/8/2007 7:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 25390    I tried something similar to this for about 5 days. I was so weak and hungry that it was absolutely not worth the effort.
Date: 10/8/2007 7:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 35720    That sounds like a horrible diet plan, Jess. =( Unfortunately, there are no crash diets that are healthy for your body.
Date: 10/8/2007 7:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 23075    Crash diets are a farce. Stay away from it. I'm telling you. If you do this you could end up in the hospital. NO JOKE
Date: 10/8/2007 8:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 62220    i think the hospital is a little extreme, but i wouldn't recommend it either. you'll just gain it back so it's not worth it, which is pretty much the bottom line.
Date: 10/8/2007 9:44:00 PM  From Authorid: 61847    I'm not sure this is the answer to lose weight. I'm comfortable with my weight but you always want to talk to a doctor before starting a diet.
Date: 10/8/2007 9:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 21764    doesn't sound like fun to me..
Date: 10/8/2007 10:16:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 25481    Well the reason I am considering this is that I have a size 6 dress that I am too big for around my stomach middle. I can't do crunches or anything because I can't lay on my back. So I was just going to do it for a little bit to get into this dress for homecoming and for a pageant I am doing in November. I have gained all my weight back in whole upper body and NONE in my lower body....
Date: 10/9/2007 5:48:00 AM  From Authorid: 56359    Diet the safe way. I've tried to take short cuts and only hurt myself. When I ate right, and excercised I dropped the weight I wanted to drop. There is never any good reason to drop weight so quickly. Your health is much more important. And also, if you drop it slowly, like I did, you will feel like you’ve accomplished something great, and… you have. If you start eating healthy now, and doing excercise that doesn't involve you doing crunches, you should lose the weight you want by November. I mean, a size 6... you're fine, stay healthy, I'm sure you look great.
Date: 10/9/2007 11:20:00 AM  From Authorid: 26542    Don't do it. All crash diets are bad for you and you gain the weight back almost immediatly. Also do not go with low or no carb diets. There have been studies that show that women on these diets suffer from emotional problems and sleep disorders due to the lack of carbs. Carbs are good, carbs are your friends. Make friends with whole grain breads and pasta and try to avoid the danishes and cookies. Try to eat more fruits and veggies. A little sugar is not bad if you have a sweet tooth just use it in moderation. Also the portions look small. If you are used to eating larger portions then you'll feel like you're starving yourself (and you are). Try to slowly downsize your portions over time. People talk about water weight as though water is a bad thing. Water actually helps your body to release waste and when you drink more water you also feel more full. Then you'll eat less. Don't like water? Try putting some lemon juice in it for flavor or use Crystal Light. Also Gatorade is a great choice. StarGurl
Date: 10/29/2007 11:11:00 AM  From Authorid: 21839    you would starve on this diet & it doesn't sound healthy at all... I think you end up gaining it all back anyway.. next time you go to the doctor, ask about different exercises you can do.. he may be able to help
